Not Artistic? With Paint by Sticker: Masterpieces, That Doesn’t Matter
Not all of us are blessed with artistic talents.
Luckily for us, the Paint by Sticker: Masterpieces sticker book requires zero skill to create gorgeous works of art.
If you can place a sticker, you can create the 12 classic paintings featured in this book—no outside materials required.
For each design you start with an art page, which features a big white space ready to be filled. Within this white space, tiny polygonal shapes are assigned their own letter and number. These IDs correspond with the sticker pages at the back of the book. The pages are all perforated, so it's easy to rip them out and get started.
Next, it's time to start sticking. Whether you look at the art page first and then search the sticker pages for the correct sticker, or vice versa, is up to you, but the former will give you faster results.
Even though the art is predetermined, the journey is up to you. Pick and place the stickers with tweezers for ultra precision, or just use your fingers for a more tactile, hands-on approach. Overlap stickers or leave some white for effect. Will you start on one side and make your way across, begin in the middle and radiate outward or place stickers in the order of the sticker sheets?
Keep it going until you're out of stickers and all of the white is covered. You'll be left with an awesome-looking piece of art worthy of framing, plus a sense of accomplishment from a job well done.
Paint by Sticker: Masterpieces starts out relatively simple with Claude Monet's Houses of Parliament, Sunlight Effect. With just a single page of 84 stickers, it's a nice introduction to the book that helps an aspiring sticker artist grasp how it's done.
By the book's fifth artwork, Flaming June by Frederic Leighton, the stickers take up a couple of pages, and they get smaller and more intricate. Flaming June features a total of 249 stickers and requires more careful placement than previous designs.
The most elaborate work in the book, Napoleon at Saint-Bernard Pass by Jacques-Louis David, requires a whopping 277 stickers to complete. That one should keep you busy for a while.
Regardless of your skill level, this book will keep you creating for hours and hours, and once you're done, there are other books in the series you can complete, too.
