Will 80 New Pokémon Lure You Back Into Pokémon Go?

In an update that Pokémon fans all anticipated ages ago, Pokémon Go will finally be adding a second generation of monsters—and they'll be available to catch sometime this week.

Pokémon toys: Pikachu, Elekid, Togepi, Mareep, Spinarak, Slowking and Snubbull

According to Pokémon Go's official Twitter account, more than 80 new Pokémon from generation two, plus new features like additional types of berries and more character avatar choices, will come to the game within the next few days.

Of course, gen two introduced 100 new Pokémon in the games, leading to fan speculation regarding the missing number of Pokémon. Seven new Pokémon that hatch out of eggs were introduced in December, so with the additional 80 plus characters it appears this new batch will omit legendary characters like Raikou, Entei, Suicune, Lugia, Ho-oh and Celebi. And will the game include 28 variations of Unown?

If, like me, you still habitually play Pokémon Go, that means there will be a lot more to do in the game—at least for a while. But if you haven't picked up the game in a bit, I hope this will be an incentive for former trainers to get back out there and catch 'em all.

UPDATE: The new Pokémon started appearing Feb. 16! How many have you caught so far?
