The New Pokémon Sword and Shield Monster You Should Train, By Zodiac Sign

Hands down, the most challenging part of setting out on a new Pokémon adventure is deciding which adorable monsters deserve a spot in your team of six.

The fact that Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield offer so many amazing new options from the get-go makes the choice somehow even more difficult. Struggling to decide? We've picked one Pokémon that's perfect for each zodiac sign.

Plus, if you're trying to avoid spoilers, don't worry too much—all these Pokémon were announced before the release of the games!

Aries (March 21 – April 19): Sirfetch'd

Aries are known for their bold and courageous natures, making the warrior Pokémon Sirfetch'd their perfect match. After all, a Farfetch'd can only evolve into the daring Sirfetch'd after proving its ability and aptitude in battle. It attacks foes with a giant, pointed leek and guards itself with a tough leafy shield, always ready to leap into the fray and prove its worth.

Taurus (April 20 – May 20): Alcremie

Taurus is a sign of sophistication as well as trust and dependability, so a sweet Pokémon-like Alcremie would be their ideal partner. When this monster creates a strong bond and believes fully in its trainer, it'll treat them to a delicious dessert. Since stable Taurus is also known for their love of decadence and self-care, these two will get along quite nicely.

Gemini (May 21 – June 20): Morpeko

Gemini is famous for its duality, so they'll get along well with the two-sided Morpeko. While usually quite sweet and sociable, this critter can change its personality on a whim. When it gets hungry, it becomes incredibly grumpy, almost becoming a different Pokémon entirely until its fed, with its abilities as well as appearance hinging on its mood. While many trainers might struggle with Morpeko's sides, Gemini will get it—and embrace it.

Cancer (June 21 – July 22): Sobble

Cancer is a sign that fully embraces their emotions, enabling them to form a connection with the Pokémon Sobble like no other. When Sobble gets upset, it likes to hide itself away in bodies of water, and it cries when it feels scared or threatened. However, because of its strong empathy with those nearby, its cry drives everyone else to tears as well. Sobble needs the extra care and attention that Cancer knows how to deliver.

It simply can't stand still, and it will loves to be the center of attention almost as much as its Leo trainer.

Libra (Sep. 23 – Oct. 22): Polteageist

Generosity and friendship are the name of the game for Libra,  making the ghostly tea party Pokémon Polteageist a fabulous fit. Polteageist will share a little bit of its delicious tea with the trainer it deems worthy, and since gossipy Libras are known for spilling the tea, these two will always be on the same page.

Scorpio (Oct. 23 – Nov. 21): Impidimp

Scorpios are very careful about the people they let into their lives, and we think the mischievous Impidimp would make an excellent partner for them. Scorpio may have a bad reputation for being difficult to know, but Impidimp actually thrives off of that energy, feeding off of the occasional frustration or anxiety. Scorpio will thrive once they've gotten to know Impidimp, and the Pokémon will grow in strength regardless.

Sagittarius is a bold and optimistic sign, requiring a Pokémon that's up for absolutely anything like the legendary Zacian. The sword-wielding Pokémon is incredibly resourceful, utilizing the objects around it in creative new ways in order to reach its goals and tackling any obstacle in a single strike. Like Sagittarius, when it believes it can accomplish something, it will.

Aquarius (Jan. 20 – Feb. 18): Corviknight

Aquarius is an independent and confident sign, but that doesn't mean they can't get a little help from an incredible Pokémon like Corviknight. This flying Pokémon has a mastery of air and basically controls the skies of the Galar region. They're incredibly intelligent, and many share Aquarius' altruism and love for helping people. Though they're self-reliant, they also love collaborating with others, making them highly successful.

Pisces (Feb. 19 – March 20): Wooloo

Dreamy and sensitive Pisces just wants a Pokémon to hug and love, and it's an added benefit that Wooloo can also be quite capable in battle. This distractible Pokémon often runs headfirst into things without thinking, finding itself in trouble, but because of its thick skin (and coat of fleece) it always manages to evade harm. Its wool works as a protective barrier from the world, much as Pisces' daydreams cushion them from the harsh realities of life.
