The 5 Hairstyles That Are Taking Over 2020
With each new year comes a new set of rules.
What was once cool in 2017 might not cut it for 2020. That's not to say that having a unique style isn't allowed, because it totally is. However, it is fun to stay up-to-date on all the latest in beauty, fashion and style in general. When it comes to our hair, there are numerous styles, cuts, colors and more that we have to choose from. Are you down for a change this year?
Keep reading for the five popular haircuts and styles that'll take over 2020:
1. The Modern Shag
You've seen the modern shag plastered all over your IG feed. Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez are just a couple celebs seen rocking it—and we're obsessed. When you think of the classic shag, images of Farrah Fawcett and bad haircuts of your mom might come to mind. However, 2020 will forever be dubbed the year the shag was reinvented. We get a rocker-chic, model-esque vibe whenever we see someone sporting this 'do. Would you be so daring to try it for yourself?
2. Curtain Bangs
If you had bangs back in the day and look back at pics with disgust, don't worry, we've all been there. So, when you see that curtain bangs are going to be huge this year, don't cringe, because they're actually super cute. It's not the blunt cut your mom forced you to get, but it's an upgraded, more stylish version. Instead of a fringe that covers your whole forehead, curtain bangs sweep both sides, leaving a bit of free space in the center. The end-results are simply stunning. BRB, scheduling a hair appointment!
3. Blunt Cut
If you've ever had layers, you know how fun they can be. However, they're also a pain in the butt, especially when pieces of hair fall out of buns and ponytails. A blunt cut, on the other hand, is essentially fuss-free. It's exactly as it sounds—your hair is cut all at one length—no bangs or layers allowed. This specific style has actually been around for quite some time, but this year it's making a major comeback, and will be explored by fashion girls everywhere.
4. The Lob
We love a good lob (long bob), especially when it's done right. Plus, if you're not in the mood for a huge transformation, achieving the perfect lob really isn't that hard. All you have to do is chop away some strands and layer accordingly. The thing that's nice about the lob, is that it's easy to manage. If you don't have time to blow-dry your hair, straighten or curl it—your locks still have the potential to look amazing. In our opinion, the messier the better.
5. The Chin-Length Bob
If you're a major fan of curling your hair or rocking Victoria's Secret-level locks, the chin-length bob is not for you. If, however, you like to take a walk on the wild side every now and then, you should totally try out this style. Kaia Gerber is the latest to rock this short 'do, and we must say she pulls it off brilliantly. This particular style is probably a bit high-maintenance, because if it's even slightly out of place, it can throw your whole look off. That's okay though, because we still stan.
