The Most Common Things People Are Hoarding Amid Quarantine

Quarantine has brought out the best… and worst, in some of us.

Due to coronavirus, we've been stuck at home with our families. Our days consist of working from home, Netflix and lots of lounging around. Since we can't go anywhere, a lot of people have taken to hoarding so that they won't have to leave the comfort of their own home.

Keep reading to find out the most common items people are hoarding amid quarantine:

1. Toilet Paper

While this list isn't in any particular order, we had to place toilet paper at No. 1 because it's the most well-known. We understand that toilet paper seems super essential in the home, but why, oh why are people going crazy over it? We'll never understand.

2. Water

This is another strange one for people to hoard… water? Come on, people! You can get this from your sink in the luxury of your own home. All you need is a water filter and you're golden! Instead of wasting tons of money on plastic bottles, stick to using a Brita.

3. Eggs

Eggs are much more understandable for overstocking. Since most of us don't have our own chickens, relying on grocery stores to provide eggs is what most of us do. This purchase makes sense anyway, since you can do pretty much anything with eggs, and easily!

4. Sanitizing Wipes

Everyone knows it's imperative to wash our hands right now, so, it only makes sense that people are stocking up on cleaning items. Things like sanitizing wipes are great to have on hand since they're so versatile.

5. Paper Towels

Paper towels are another item that makes us scratch our heads. While they are super convenient to clean up spills, they're not truly necessary. Instead of freaking out that the stores are out of paper towels, use a dishrag instead!

6. Rice

Rice can last for a crazy long time, so we get why people are hoarding this food item. It's a great carb and can make you feel full. So, if you're running low on food, rice is a great option. Plus, it's not expensive!

7. Pasta

We could seriously live off of pasta, and it seems like everyone else can, too. People have been cleaning out the pasta aisles at grocery stores, along with pasta sauce. It's arguably one of the easiest meals to make at home, so we understand why people are drawn to this item.

8. Hand Sanitizer

A few months ago, who would have known how popular hand sanitizer would become? Good luck finding any in stores or online, because they're super hard to come by! Your best bet is finding indie beauty brands who have started making hand sanitizer during the pandemic.

9. Face Masks

Since face masks are absolutely essential during quarantine, we recognize why people feel the need to stock up. However, when you buy hundreds upon hundreds of them, that's just plain rude. Leave some for the rest of us! If you've yet to get your hands on a face mask, just make one at home.
