How Quinton Griggs Explored the Ache of Toxic Love in Lyrics of His New Song, ‘Crazy Devotion’

Sometimes, we can get mired in the perils of a toxic relationship without even knowing it.

18-year-old singer-songwriter, model, TikTok star and  Quinton Griggs knows this very well. He was actually going through a breakup when he teamed up with Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz to write his latest hit single, "Crazy Devotion," channeling that passion and heartache into an instant classic. We got the chance to chat with Quinton all about the track and the meaning of its poignant lyrics, and here's what he had to say:

Sweety High: What was the songwriting process for "Crazy Devotion"? Was the song based on a real relationship?

Quinton Griggs: It was me, Pete and John at Feldy's house. We walked in and I was super inspired by "Until The Day I Die" by Story of the Year. I had no idea John was actually apart of that record until I brought it up—so we decided to run with it. John built it, and Pete and I started writing. At the time, I was going through a breakup,  so that's what influenced the concept.

SH: What does the track mean to you, and what do you hope fans take away from it?

QG: The song is about being addicted to something super toxic, but you don't see what it is actually doing to you—it's like you're blinded by the addiction. Everybody goes through this type of sh**, it's a part of life, so I hope it resonates with some people and it can be used to get them through.
