Rainsford Talks New Music and Performing at the First-Ever Bleached Festival

In less than a month, the first-ever Bleached Festival will be hosted at San Diego's Waterfront Park, offering two days of SoCal summer indie-pop like the world has never seen before.

Curated by Tight Knit and FNGRS CRSSD, the festival will be held on Aug. 5 and 6 in downtown San Diego. The laidback event will host a star-studded lineup including Stephen Sanchez, Jeremy Zucker, Joji, Remi Wolf, PinkPantheress, Lovejoy, Cat Burns and so many more, including Rainey Qualley, also known musically by the stage name Rainsford. The versatile indie-pop artist is also an actress (perhaps best known for her work on Mad Men), as well as a model, writer and creative director, and we can't wait to see her bring her talents (and some new music) to Bleached Fest. Ahead of her exciting dates on stage, we got the chance to chat to ask her all about the upcoming festival and what we can expect from Rainsford over the big weekend.

Sweety High: What makes Bleached Festival unique, and why did it feel like a great fit for your music?

Rainsford: It's so nice to be playing a festival not too far from home—all my friends are coming! And I've been writing so much new music I'm very much looking forward to sharing live for the first time.

SH: What kind of energy do you hope to bring to the stage and share with your fans?

Rainsford: Mostly I just want to play music I feel proud of and hope anyone listening enjoys it!

SH: Is there any song you're most excited to perform at the fest?

Rainsford: My song "horse" is brand spanking new, and I performed "love it"—so that will be exciting to play!

SH: What's one thing you're looking forward to most for Bleached Fest?

Rainsford: I'm a little bit nervous beneath the excitement, so it'll feel good to be out there finally and then enjoy the rest of the acts once I'm done. Especially Caroline Polachek. I'm so fangirl that we're playing at the same festival.

SH: Is there anything else you'd like to add?

Rainsford: I hope people come watch my set!!
