The Top Standout Moments from SEVENTEEN’s U.S. Stadium Debut

by Tayah Fox

On Oct. 12, K-pop group SEVENTEEN embarked on the SEVENTEEN RIGHT HERE WORLD TOUR starting in Seoul, South Korea.

After releasing their 12th mini-album, SPILL THE FEELS, the group flew across the ocean to bring their show-stopping production to American Carats across five cities. SEVENTEEN reached new heights in America as they closed out the U.S. leg of the tour with an American stadium debut at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles on Nov. 9 and 10. To commemorate this achievement, Los Angeles transformed into SEVENTEEN city with a merch pop-up, Santa Monica Pier lighting, various restaurant collaborations for Carats to collect special items and more.

Sweety High had the pleasure of experiencing this major accomplishment with the group and fans during the opening night of the two-show run. Read about our favorite standout moments from SEVENTEEN's exhilarating performance to a sold-out crowd of devoted fans.

The Return of 'Darkteen'

"Darkteen" is a phrase coined by SEVENTEEN fans, also known as Carats, to describe the group's brooding and cinematic releases and concepts. The group rarely presents this concept, which is why it was a pleasant surprise to witness an opening sequence of "FEAR," "MAESTRO," "FEARLESS" and "ASH." Without missing a beat, the group flawlessly executed each song, utilizing dark and mysterious facial expressions, proving they can master any concept they choose. The stark contrast between the members' shadowy auras during these performances and the cheerful nature of their opening statements highlights SEVENTEEN's commitment to delivering a top-quality show.

Unit Time

Is it really a SEVENTEEN show without the essential subunit performances?

Opening the subunit section of the show was the hip-hop unit of S.COUPS, WONWOO, MINGYU and VERNON. The quartet presented a high-energy and electrifying rendition of their newest track, "Water," along with Carats, who loudly chanted the track's addictive chorus refrain, adding to the lively atmosphere. Subsequently, in "Monster," the members sported eerie furry bear masks as they began their haunting yet mesmerizing arrangement, complete with VERNON's fitting lyrics—"Stadium door to stadium door."

The hip-hop unit then passed the torch to the performance unit of HOSHI, THE8 and DINO (JUN is currently in China, participating in solo activities) for their fierce and commanding performance of the '80s-inspired synth-heavy track "Rain." Following "Rain" was an R&B-infused performance of the pop-electronic song "Lilili Yabbay," where the trio showcased their sharp dance skills while accentuating their charming vocal abilities.

Finally, the vocal unit of JOSHUA, WOOZI, DK, and SEUNGKWAN (JEONGHAN is currently serving his mandatory military service) arrived to serenade the audience with their sweet and enchanting vocals as they began their set with "Candy." Later, the unit reflected on their time together with the song "Cheers to Youth." As the members sang about the pressures of daily life while comforting the crowd with the motivation to keep going, photos of the unit emerged on the big screens, creating a bittersweet atmosphere.

'Oh My!'… In the Jungle?

SEVENTEEN fans know and love the humor the group brings to any circumstance. The big stage was no exception for their humorous activities and quirky skits during their performance of "Oh My!" The group entered a the stage full of small activities for the members partake in, such as badminton or a standing bed for VERNON's naps. As the song progressed, WOOZI halted the music, realizing VERNON was sleeping and unable to deliver his verse. THE8 then woke him, forcing him to apologize, and the music continued. That was, until we reached the bridge, and suddenly, a portal threw us into the jungle. The group received a humorous welcome from various animals, including unexpected ones like a polar bear and a penguin wearing a Santa Claus hat. The two sides competed in a dance battle before JOSHUA ended, and the two groups finished the song together. Lighthearted skits are not new to the group, as they've incorporated amusing acts into their previous tours. Still, it revealed a familiar side of SEVENTEEN that carats love seeing outside their performances.

SEVENTEEN on the Move

How can 11 people see over 20,000 fans in one night? SEVENTEEN has a solution: gigantic mobile carts. Parked on each side of the main stage sat large carts with enough room for the members. Fans were ecstatic to learn that the very carts seen in Korea had made their way to the U.S., just in time for the last two shows. During the first portion of the encore, the group took their debut track, "Adore U," into the crowd, traveling around the venue's perimeter and meeting fans face to face. The members waved, read signs and interacted with Carats throughout the song "'bout you" and concluded their adventure with "Campfire," leaving every fan satisfied knowing they saw their favorite group close-up, regardless of their seat location.

'VERY NICE' (Again and Again)

Of course, no SEVENTEEN concert is complete without a never-ending "VERY NICE" performance, now featuring Carats. Members left the stage and searched the crowd to choose a special Carat to sing SEUNGKWAN's high note at the bridge's end, prompting the venue to resume jumping and dancing like before. Unlike earlier tours, multiple Carats sang with the group, giving more fans the opportunity of a lifetime. This spontaneous segment created a more intimate connection between SEVENTEEN and their fans, indicating that no barricade can keep them from interacting with Carats.

And while the U.S. leg of the tour is over, but SEVENTEEN is just getting started. The group will return to Japan in late November for a dome tour, followed by a Southeast Asian tour in January. Although most members will leave individually to fulfill their mandatory military duties, the group vows to return bigger and better than ever—and we can't wait.
