Beyoncé’s Colorist, Rita Hazan, Shares the Biggest Hair Color Trends for Fall 2023

As celebrity colorist to the stars—including Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez and Sydney Sweeney—Rita Hazan knows a thing or two about hair color.

Of course, this also means she's on top of the biggest hair color trends for the fall season, and we cannot wait to see more of these natural-looking yet bold hues. To learn more about these luscious colors—and how to keep them looking pristine in between salon visits—read on for our insights from Rita herself.

Nude Blonde

Rita Hazan: Nude blonde is a perfect transition from light, bright blonde to a more toned-down fall version. This shade is a gorgeous creamy blonde that is tone-on-tone, with highlights to add dimension—perfect for this time of year. Nude blonde is great for anyone who is blonde, and this is great for all hair types, especially straight hair.

Tortoiseshell Brown

RV: Tortoiseshell brown is a rich brown with yellow undertones. For brunettes, it's a great color for the fall season because it's warm and rich without being brassy. Tortoiseshell brown is best for anyone with a light-to-medium brown color, and this is also great for all hair types. If you prefer to take the darker route, you should ask for this rich brown look with yellow undertones at your next hair appointment.

To extend the nude blonde and/or tortoiseshell brown shade, use an at-home gloss to seal the color in with a product like my Breaking Brass Ultimate Shine Gloss to help maintain color in between the three- to four-week color appointments. Also Weekly Remedy, my deep conditioning treatment, is great in place of conditioner for intense hydration. You can use this at least twice a week if the hair is very dry or damaged.

No-Color Color

RV: "No color-color" is going richer and warmer to be taken more seriously—keeping your color looking natural with a clean and modern shade. This is a great way to transition into a more manageable hair color and when your hair is a warmer shade, it leaves your hair looking healthier.

No-color color is a completely low-maintenance lifestyle for those who are coloring their hair to look natural, healthier and shinier as though they didn't color their hair. This process is doing the minimum and isn't as costly and time-consuming as typical intense coloring can be, but resulting in a sophisticated chic color.

To extend the no-color color shade, use an at-home gloss to seal the color in, such as the Rita Hazan's Ultimate Shine Gloss to help maintain color in between the three-to-four week color appointments.
