Riverdale Season 3 Adds a New Girl Who’s Tied to Danger

Riverdale Season 3 has a lot of surprises in store, but here's one you don't have to wait for.

News of a new character came late last week, when Vulture reported that Riley Keough signed on for the upcoming season. The actor is going to play a character named "Laurie Lake."

Laurie is another character from the Archie comics, as Elite Daily points out. It sounds like she'll get a dark twist, though. She meets Archie (KJ Apa) and Jughead (Cole Sprouse) when they wind up on her property, and things start out kind of flirty but get dangerous, according to Vulture.

Laurie is described as an "all-American farm girl," also according Vulture, which might be where the danger comes from. As Elite Daily points out, Season 2 made mention of a cult known as "The Farm" multiple times, so the description might mean that Laurie has ties to the group. Yikes.

Riley's character might sound like a problem, but we're happy for the actress for landing the part. She started angling for a role on the show via social media months ago. In early March, she tweeted, "I just want to be cast in Riverdale."

Riverdale Season 3 premieres Wednesday, Oct. 10 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
