ROSIE On Recognizing Her Rising Stardom Her Vulnerable New EP, 5 Songs For Healing
Singer-songwriter ROSIE has always found a way to express herself musically while still wearing her heart on her sleeve. An emotional-pop musician, she spotlights authenticity by being one of the only "makeup-free" mainstream artists.
Today, she released her second EP, 5 Songs For Healing. The project takes her listeners through a series of emotions, making it her most vulnerable release yet.
We had the honor of speaking with ROSIE to discuss her new EP, her dream music collaborations and self-love. Keep scrolling to read our full interview.
Sweety High: Congratulations on your new EP, 5 Songs For Healing. Some of the inspiration from the EP came from your therapy sessions. How has it been to be so vulnerable and authentic with your fans?
ROSIE: I believe so much of my second EP was inspired by my therapy sessions because it's a space where I can be my most vulnerable self. I used to fear releasing some of my music because it is so raw and honest, but my fans have embraced me and my songs with so much love and empathy, I now look forward to putting out music.

SH: If you had to choose, which is your favorite track off of the EP and why?
ROSIE: My favorite track off of 5 Songs For Healing is "I Should Just Go To Bed," because it captures a really pivotal moment in my healing journey. This song marks the beginning of me learning to trust my gut, and instead of saying something or doing something I will regret, I decide to just go to bed instead.
SH: You are currently on tour! What has it been like to receive in-person interaction with your music?
ROSIE: I always say that tour is my favorite part of being an artist, because everything I work so hard for is right in front of me. My purpose as an artist is to make people feel seen and understood, no matter what it is they're going through. When I tour, I get to witness fans crying, laughing and singing all together, and that's when I know that I'm fulfilling my purpose.

SH: Can you detail your favorite or most memorable fan encounter so far?
ROSIE: Every encounter that I have with a fan is truly so sacred to me. I never take an interaction for granted, but one that will stick with me forever happened just the other night. I had a fan come to the first three shows of the tour, and at the end of the third night, they came to me crying because they said they didn't wanna go home. I asked them if everything was alright at home, and they said, "Yes, I just love it here so much I don't wanna leave." In that moment, I realized that I, too, am creating a sense of home for my fans, and that is one of the most rewarding feelings in the world.

SH: We have gotten so many iconic music collabs this year! Who would be your dream artist you collaborate with?
ROSIE: My dream artist to collaborate with is Taylor Swift or Phoebe Bridgers—basically anyone who made an appearance on the Eras tour. Songwriting is such a powerful tool and I think those two artists, in particular, are some of the best songwriters in the world, and it would be an honor to create with them.
SH: You are known for being a makeup-free music artist. Why do you think it's important to be a female artist that is confident in being makeup-free?
ROSIE: Five years ago, I became a "makeup-free" artist, because I grew up comparing myself to unrealistic beauty standards both online and in everyday life, and I wanted to change the narrative around beauty and confidence. My makeup-free journey started as an artist posting TikToks in my bedroom, but it's grown over time. I walked a red carpet a few months ago without makeup, and in a few weeks I'll make my first TV appearance. As an artist, it is so important to me that people see me as a human being, because that's the kind of artist I wish I grew up with. I want fans to see that I have good days and bad days like everyone else. Some days I have dark circles and breakouts, and that doesn't make me any less beautiful. Five years later, I am still spreading the same message and I couldn't be more grateful for all of the support I've received on this decision.

SH: Is there anything you would tell your younger self, or your audience, about self-love?
ROSIE: There are so many things I wish I could tell my younger self. The biggest lesson I wish I'd learned sooner is, "Until you learn to love and take care of yourself, you will never be able to love and care for others in the way that you want to." My mom always says, "In order to help others, you have to help yourself, first," and I really wish I'd started helping myself earlier.
SH: Has the amount of global success you have received honestly hit you yet?
ROSIE: I am extremely bad at recognizing my own success. It's something I'm actually working on, because in moments where I should stop and celebrate a win, I usually just keep my head down and continue to work until I burn out. The last couple of months, I have reached so many personal goals, and I've been having a difficult time letting it all sink in, but I am very grateful for my incredible family, friends and team members who always make sure to remind me of my wins when I forget to remind myself.

SH: What's next for you?
R: I have so much in store in the next couple months, starting with the release of my second EP. I have my first-ever headline show in L.A. at the Troubadour, which I am so pumped for, and once I finish up The Healing Tour, I am heading back into the studio to write some more! The craziness is just beginning. I am so excited to see what these next couple years have in store!
