Ryder Beer Shares the Story Behind His Debut Single, ‘Can’t Take It’

While Ryder Beer might be best known for being Madison Beer's younger brother, he's also a powerful musician in his own right, and the singer-songwriter, producer and drummer is already making a splash with the release of his debut single, "Can't Take It."

Ryder's new song is a vibey pop banger with an atmospheric sound that  highlights the star's romantic vocals as he sings about letting go of a crumbling relationship. It's a strong first outing from the rising artist, and we had the pleasure of speaking with Ryder ahead of its release to get the inside scoop. Read our interview with him below.

The Story Behind 'Can't Take It'

Ryder Beer: It's a story about when you get to the point in a relationship that unfortunately no longer serves you. I believe we've all been there and can relate.

What 'Can't Take It' Means

RB: I hope people who listen to this song know they're not alone and don't feel bad about wanting their relationship to end. It's a bummer when someone is hurting, but if you're not feeling it any longer, you have to take care of your needs.

Ryder's Favorite Lyric

RB: My favorite lyric is, "Baby, I can fake a smile but it won't make us closer." I love this lyric because I'm sure a lot of people have experienced feeling forced to act a certain way in a relationship, but it doesn't add up to how they're feeling.

On Choosing His Debut Single

RB: I think it's a good example of my sound and gives a glimpse of the direction I'm headed in.

Final Thoughts

RB: I had a really fun time creating the music and shooting the video. I'm just excited to be meeting new people and getting to live out my dreams.
