MUA, Actress and Musician Sasha Anne Dishes on Her New Film, Reed’s Point

Sasha Anne is the definition of a multi-hyphenate.

She's a celebrated makeup artist, actress, singer, influencer and more, as well as a Shorty Award winner, and her feature film debut, Reed's Point, released just last week. It seems that 2022 is primed to be Sasha's year, and we got the chance to speak with the star about all of the different facets of her career—and why Reed's Point is a must-watch.

Sweety High: Between being a makeup artist, actor and musical artist, is there any one role you're most passionate about?

Sasha Anne: I find being a makeup artist very relaxing, being an actress I can exercise my emotions and being a musical artist is my therapy.

SH: What would you say is your most memorable makeup look to date?

SA: My Black Swan makeup transformation. Every time I do an interview, that's the makeup video they always bring up.

SH: Can you tell us a little bit about the plot of your new film, Reed's Point?

SA: Yes! First I want to give a huge thank you to my manager, Sandy Lo for introducing me to Suzanne DeLaurentiis. Without Suzanne, this film wouldn't have been possible. She made my dream of being an actress come true and I couldn't have done it without her.

In the film, two teenagers survive an RV crash near the Jersey Pine Barrens. On the anniversary of the accident, Sarah (me) and Alex drive to Reed's Point to investigate the crash site. Things go downhill quickly as they find themselves stuck in the woods, unsure of who they can trust and questioning if monsters really do exist.

SH: What can you share about your character, Sarah? What traits do you share in common?

SA: My character, Sarah Franklin, is a student college reporter writing for the college newspaper and her project is investigating the crash and what happened to her cousin, Kelsey. We are both very determined to get to the bottom of things. We don't take no for an answer. Oh! And neither of us is very athletic.

SH: What made you decide to record a cover of "Catch Me I'm Falling" as your debut single? What does the song mean to you?

SA: I actually had the opportunity to re-record the original song "Catch Me I'm Falling" with Jade Starling (Pretty Poison) and remake it. My producer Suzanne DeLaurentiis really helped me prepare for the song and music video. And I'm so thankful and it was a huge honor to record with Jade. I can't thank the both of them enough. I thank Suzanne for believing in me and my talent. To me, this song means that you are so in love with someone, that you are "blind" and can't see anyone else but that person. No one else in the world exists but you and them.

SH:  What's your favorite lyric from the song?

SA: There are two lines that stick out to me. The first one is, "You came into my life, the look in your eyes took me by surprise, it's you and nobody else your love has made me so blind I can't see." And the second is, "For you I surrender myself each night, every day, always feeling this way." Those two lines are so powerful to me and so deep. I'm a very deep person.

SH: Is there anything else you'd like to add?

SA: Make sure you go watch Reed's Point on Amazon Prime, Vudu and other platforms and buy the DVD. Also stream and buy my debut song "Catch Me I'm Falling" on all streaming platforms. Last, stay tuned for my mini role in the new pilot comedy series, On All Fours produced by Suzanne DeLaurentiis and Jeff Lazarus coming soon.
