Seattle Chocolate’s New Shine On Chocolate Line Tastes Great and Supports an Amazing Cause

Over the last year or so, Seattle Chocolate has quickly developed into one of my favorite chocolate companies—and that's not just because I've now a proud resident of the Pacific Northwest.

The woman-owned brand is dedicated to making high-quality chocolates that also taste great, and now, their mission to make the world brighter through chocolate has gotten even more powerful thanks to a collaboration with Girls Inc. The brand also sent me their new Shine on Care Package to taste for myself. Keep reading to find out more about what their work with Girls Inc. means and to find out how their latest goodies really taste.

The Mission

How does one make life better with chocolate? Seattle Chocolate is making it happen by donating 10% of the net profits from selling tasty chocolates to the incredible organization Girls Inc. They're focused on developing every aspect of what makes girls powerful, ensuring that they're strong, smart and bold—and that's a mission we can definitely get behind.

Girls Inc. accomplishes this through programs that teach girls to lead fulfilling and productive lives while also helping them break the cycle of power while becoming role models in their communities. Not only do they empower the girls themselves, but they allow them to empower others through their thoughts, words and deeds. It's a worthy cause, and I love the brand even more for backing them.

The Chocolate

The Shine on Care Package (retailing for $40) is the brand's first collection since teaming up with Girls Inc. at the start of the year, and it's just the bright, sunny collection to perfectly sum up their new collaboration. Even the box it came in, adorned with sunny characters in yellows, pinks, oranges and greens, immediately brought a smile to my face—and you better believe I kept it. In addition to a You Are Sunshine Truffle Bar and Shine on Assorted Chocolate Truffles, it also included a postcard, a set of stickers and a delicious white chocolate lollipop in the shape of a sun.

But the You Are Sunshine Truffle Bar ($4.75) is a truly special kind of chocolate. The bar is made of rich, luscious milk chocolate with a soft truffle center, plus pieces of crispy, crunchy honey nut cereal rings. Not only do they make for a magnificent texture, but the subtly sweet flavor really complements the chocolate beautifully.

And I can't say enough good things about the Shine on Assorted Truffles ($22). This tasty bundle includes eight different flavors of truffles: Blackberry Crème, Champagne, Malted Milk Ball, Milk Chocolate, Peanut Butter, Pink Bubbly, Salted Almond and San Juan Sea Salt. All are beloved Seattle chocolate flavors, each wrapped in its own shiny and colorful piece of compostable foil, and I honestly can't pick a favorite flavor between them.
