Seattle Chocolate Has the Best Festive Flavors Holiday Chocolates Have to Offer

Earlier this year, I sampled all kinds of autumnal treats for a roundup I did on the best fall flavors, and it only took a couple of bites of Seattle Chocolate Company's famous truffle bars to become enamored with them.

Lucky for me, I only live a couple of hours from Seattle, so certain local shops carry the brand and I'm never too far away from a bar if I really want one. Even luckier, the brand reached out to me and asked if I'd be interested in covering their winter and holiday flavors. Of course, I couldn't say no.

The brand's holiday collection includes six festive chocolate bars, featuring the best seasonal flavors around, and I may love them even more than the ones I tried in the fall.

The Brand

Seattle Chocolate Company is a woman-owned brand that's been around for 30 years, with their most famous product being their signature truffle bars. The bars consist of melty, luscious truffle centers encased in a chocolate bar and featuring all kinds of unique ingredients and flavors to really make them sing, and they have some especially tasty varieties available around the holidays—complete with gorgeous artwork by Seattle artist Frida Clements.

The 2.5 oz. bars are available for $4.75 each, or you can buy them in beautiful holiday three-packs. The Classic Holiday Bar Trio, including Hot Buttered Rum, Candy Cane Crunch and Peanut Butter Crisp bars, and the Woodland Holiday Bar Trio, including Toffee Sea Salt, Winter Orange Spice and Holiday Spiced Nuts flavors each retail for $17.50. Plus, every purchase of these bars supports the National Wildlife Federation.

The Bars

Peanut Butter Crisp Truffle Bar

Chocolate and peanut butter are always a winning combination, and that's especially true with this Peanut Butter Crisp Truffle Bar. The milk chocolate and peanut butter are perfectly combined in every bite (think of your favorite peanut butter cup, but better), and the addition of crisped oats adds lovely crunch and texture throughout. It all comes together to create a universally beloved flavor you won't be able to resist.

Hot Buttered Rum Truffle Bar

I wasn't quite sure what to expect from this Hot Buttered Rum Truffle Bar, but since it was from Seattle Chocolate, I knew it would be quite tasty—and I was right. This milk chocolate bar is packed with tiny, crunchy bits of buttery toffee, as well as spices to give it a flavor that warms the whole mouth. It's unusual but easy to love.

Winter Orange Spiced Truffle Bar

I don't always consider myself a big fan of chocolate and orange together, but this Winter Orange Spiced Truffle Bar has gotten the proportions of each flavor exactly right, and now I'm in love. The milk chocolate feels creamy and smooth, and the citrus of the orange is very subtle, with it all brought together with cinnamon, cloves and walnuts. It's another warming and delicious flavor, and part of me dearly wishes I could sip it in the form of a delicious hot chocolate.

Candy Cane Crunch Truffle Bar

I could smell the bold peppermint in this bar before even opening up the wrapping, so I knew I'd be in for a treat. This dark chocolate truffle bar has more of a snap than the others and is full of tiny, minty shards of candy cane, which pair deliciously with the dark chocolate. It's festive, subtle and never too sweet, making it the perfect fit for any dark chocolate-lovers out there.

Toffee Sea Salt Truffle Bar

Is it even possible to go wrong when you're combining sea salt and toffee? This flavorful dark chocolate bar hits you front and center with the salt, and then as you chew, you get pieces of the crunchy, rich toffee to bring all of the fabulous flavors together. I love that it's dark chocolate, so the bar itself isn't too sweet and really allows the flavors inside to shine.

Holiday Spiced Nuts Truffle Bar

Last is the Holiday Spiced Nuts Truffle Bar, another dark chocolate truffle bar that's all about highlighting the tasty ingredients inside. This one is on the sweeter side, but that brings out the best in the almond and pecan pieces throughout, complete with a dose of salt, a hint of brown sugar and rich cinnamon and spice notes.

Bottom Line

If you love chocolate and tasty seasonal flavors, you really can't go wrong with Seattle Chocolate Company's excellent truffle bars. In terms of ingredients, texture and taste, they're truly some of the best, and the fact that they're $4.50 each makes them quite affordable for premium chocolate—especially given the beautiful packaging. I will note that you'll actually save money if you buy three separate bars, as opposed to the pre-packaged trios, but the bundles are quite cute, so if you love how they look, they just might be worth the extra $4 they cost.
