7 Reasons Why Selena Gomez and The Weeknd Are Our Fave New Couple

Well, we didn't see this one coming!

It looks like The Weeknd (born Abel Tesfaye), who split from his supermodel girlfriend Bella Hadid two months ago, has moved on with our girl Selena Gomez.

The Weeknd and Justin Bieber's ex were spotted hugging and kissing outside of Giorgio Baldi restaurant in Santa Monica, California, on Tuesday night, and the internet—along with Selena's "Selenators"—have been freaking out ever since.

In photos first released by TMZ, Selena had her arms wrapped around The Weeknd's neck, and even gave him a sweet cheek-smooch on their way out, proving the once-"broken" starlet is feeling happier and more public than we've seen her in a while!

Even though this relationship totally takes us by surprise, we're not mad at the idea of them together. In fact, they kind of make a super stellar couple—here's why!

1. They'll Have a Fun Celebrity Couple Name

Let's get straight to it: No Hollywood relationship is official without a cheesy celebrity couple name! We've seen a few options floating around the internet, like #Selknd #Weekena—which do you prefer?

2. They're Super Compatible

At least, they are according to their astrological signs! The Weeknd's a Pisces and Selena's a Cancer, making them both water signs, which are highly compatible.

3. They Could Be Music's Newest Power Couple

Jay Z and Beyonce are the reigning music power couple, but could Selena and The Weeknd might have the superstar potential to dethrone them? Selena is the most followed person on Instagram with 106 million devotees, and The Weeknd has won the respect from Drake, Kanye West and more.

4. Think of All the Song Collaborations!

Both Selena and The Weeknd aren't shy when it comes to collaborating. The Weeknd made musical cameos on Kanye West's 2016 album Life of Pablo and Beyonce's Lemonade album, and we're big fans of Selena's current "We Don't Talk Anymore" collab with Charlie Puth. Plus, Selena's been known to make music with her love interests, like when she collaborated with Zedd on his single, "I Want You to Know."

5. They Could Go On Double Dates With Their Friends

Selena and The Weeknd each have some pretty famous friends, so think of all the fun double dates they can go on together! Sure, Taylor Swift might be single right now, but the dating life of a world famous 20-something is always subject to change! In the meantime, why not hang with Drake and J.Lo?

6. They Both Love Fashion

The Weeknd has always been a mighty good dresser and was recently GQ's cover star. And, Selena always heats things up when she hits the red carpet. We've got our fingers crossed for a couples pic at this year's Grammys!

7. There Could Be a Victoria's Secret Performance Round Two

Selena Gomez and The Weeknd both performed at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in 2015. We wouldn't mind seeing these two take the stage again this year! Although, it might be a little awkward if Bella's there too…

While we're talking about music, HERE are the artists nominated for iHeartRadio's Best Underground Alternative Band.
