5 Important Things to Remember When You Doubt Yourself

Don't let self-doubt kill off your dreams.

You are so much stronger than you give yourself credit. In times of uncertainty, whether it be about a decision you have to make, a person you're crushing on or something else entirely, remember that you're enough. We all have our flaws, but it's how we embrace those flaws that define us.

If you're going through a tough time and are dealing with self-doubt, remember these five important things:

1. Nothing Worth Having Comes Easy

Every now and then, you're going to doubt yourself—simple as that. You might wonder if you're good enough, brave enough or strong enough to do something. But guess what? Nothing worth having comes easy. Focus on your strengths and talents, putting all of your focus into your goals. If you work hard at something, you will be rewarded.

2. Don't Sweat the Small Stuff

If you react to something small in a big way, chances are, you're altering the outcome. What was once going to be a minor event or incident of the day, will take over your thoughts. You've given this one little thing so much power that you're allowing it to define you. So remember, don't sweat the small stuff, because in the grand scheme of things, it won't matter.

3. Embrace Change

Change can be a scary thing. It often creeps up on you and bam—you're face-to-face with it. Rather than allowing whatever change you're enduring to consume your each and every thought, action and emotion—embrace it. You might doubt your abilities, but if you welcome change with open arms, it can only be a good thing.

4. You've Survived All the Other Bad Days

Self-doubt almost always leads to overthinking. You start questioning everything and everyone around you. At times, it might even feel like you won't make it out alive. But think back to all the other times you had those same thoughts. You made it through. You survived. You can and will again, so brace yourself and move past those thoughts of uncertainty!

5. Don't Lose Sleep Over Things You Can't Control

If you've ever laid in bed wide awake, replaying all your life's mistakes and regrets on repeat, you've put yourself in a harmful situation. While you try to get those bad thoughts out of your mind and get back to sleep, it's much easier said than done. Your past is behind you, and certain things in your future are already set in stone. So for the things you can't control, try not to lose any sleep.
