The 3 Perfect Moments From Shawn Mendes’ Carpool Karaoke

The Late Late Show with James Corden finally marked Shawn Mendes' Carpool Karaoke debut, and it was everything fans could have hoped for—and more.

There were so many great elements, from the Canadian musician's clear joy at being along for the ride to his always-beautiful singing to his banter with James. Per the show's norm, the two sang their hearts out in the car, but in between songs, they had a chance to talk about buying Justin Bieber's underwear, have a road range moment and more. In the end, though, there were three moments we found were particularly amazing:

When Shawn Didn't Hold Back

We could have chosen so many of Shawn's singing highlights, but we had to limit ourselves. When push came to shove, it was his excitement about the climax to "There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back" that we had to choose.

"This is it," he told Corden to prepare the host. "Here we go."

The two then got super into the musical moment, with Shawn's dance moves and smile both reaching epic proportions.

When the Singer Revealed His Harry Potter Superfandom

Shawn and James had some tricks up their sleeves for us. While the singer discussed his love for the Harry Potter series, props began appearing, one by one. It started with a small scar, and then soon Shawn looked like he'd escaped from the set of one of the films. And somehow, he managed to keep a straight face.

 

When the Duo Played Hockey

Carpool Karaoke left the car! In honor of the musician's Canadian heritage, the two headed to a hockey rink. There, Shawn showed off his skills, skating circles around James. Although he teased the light-night host, he was kind enough to lend Corden a hand when he ended up flat on the ice.
