Why You Shouldn’t Be Afraid of a Drastic Hair Change
The thought of chopping all your hair off or dyeing it some outrageous color has crossed everyone's mind at least a few times.
But when it comes to actually doing it, most of us stop ourselves before the damage is done, for fear of being left with an atrocious new 'do.
We're here to remind you to throw your inhibitions to the wind and go for that dramatic new look you've been wanting for a while.
Here's why you shouldn't be afraid of a drastic hair change:
It Pushes You Out of Your Comfort Zone
One of our favorite (and totally cliché) sayings is: "Life begins where your comfort zone ends." Nope, we don't have any chips to go with that cheese, but we can tell you why it's a statement worth following. You only live once, so life is about taking risks and striving to be your happiest at any given moment. If you keep playing it safe, are you really living? As far as we're concerned, you're not. You're just going through the motions of what you think a life should be.
Being bold enough to change your haircut, style or color will help push you out of your comfort zone. When it works out (because it will), you'll realize that trying something new isn't all that scary. It all starts with a new look.
You'll Feel Like a New Person
Changing up your locks will (obviously) leave you feeling like a brand new person. Whether you're bored with your life or not quite feeling like yourself, a fresh cut or styling sesh is an easy way to liven up your average life. You'll see things from a different perspective, which will only help you in the long run.
Even after you've had the new cut or color for a while, it'll still take some getting used to—meaning, each day will feel like a totally different adventure, even if it's all the same.

It Helps You Embrace Change
Change is a part of life, but not everyone is necessarily onboard with it. We get it. It's terrifying to think about how things can be one way one day and then totally different the next.
While changing your hair (even in the most minimal way) is truly frightening, doing so will remind you that change really isn't a bad thing. Far too often, we let the fear of striking out keep us from playing the game.
Don't let your worry over the thought of a bad haircut stop you from switching up your look. When in doubt, go for it.
You Might Prefer Your Hair This Way
For all you know, maybe you'll prefer your hair shorter? Maybe going from blonde to brunette would be the best decision you've ever made? Or maybe dyeing it pink was just what you needed to add an extra spring to your step? But you won't know that's true unless you actually try it, huh?

You'll Learn New Styling Skills
Altering your tresses in any way will bring about a great deal of life lessons when it comes to styling your hair. You'll learn about a variety of different products and tools that work for your new look, most of which you've never even used before.
It'll take some getting used to, especially in terms of how much more time you might be spending getting ready, but it's totally worth the effort. Soon enough, all your besties will turn to you when they need help with their hair.
It's Just Hair
At the end of the day, it's just hair. It'll grow back or become its natural color once more. And if you don't want to waste any time, you can always get extensions or dye it to be its original color. But it really isn't anything to totally stress over. If worse comes to worse, you can always go for a simple buzzcut.
