Shuba Learns Not to Fall for a Pretty Face With ‘Hot Girls’
If you need a remember to stop falling hard for the bad boys, Shuba's sleek new single "Hot Girls" just might become your new anthem.
The smooth and dreamy R&B track follows the singer-songwriter's own journey of self-discovery, realizing that she's done wanting the pretty boys who are bad for her and deciding she's going to start demanding a good man who treats her right. The chorus has all the makings of the next viral TikTok sound, while the rap verse will be stuck in your head all weekend long. We loved it from the first listen, and we had the pleasure of catching up with Shuba to learn all about the track and why it's so important to her.
The Story Behind 'Hot Girls'
Shuba: "Hot Girls" is a reminder to me to really be careful about the kind of boys I let into my life. I think a lot of times, we get so blinded by someone's looks that we can't tell if we're actually into them as a person or if we just think they're hot. Through my breakup, I realized that I need to pay attention to the actual qualities someone has as opposed to how pretty they are or how pretty other people think they are.

What 'Hot Girls' Means
Shuba: The song empowers me, especially the line, "Never gonna fall for a pretty face." It means that I'm taking control and filtering out the people I let into my life before I waste any of my time or theirs. I hope people take away the same thing and be extra cautious about who they spend days, weeks, months and years with. It's so easy to get lost in someone or in a situation that doesn't serve you until you finally make the choice to break free and see things clearly.
Shuba's Favorite Lyric
Shuba: "Never gonna fall for a pretty face." It reminds me that there is not only power in physical appearance. We have to look at someone's human qualities and really ask if they have positive energy and value to add to our lives before we let them in.

Final Thoughts
Shuba: The song makes me really happy and feels like it's circling back from my "Indian Summer" era. I can't wait for people to hear it!
