Six Gldn is vegan, cruelty-free, eco-friendly and doesn't use over 2,000 potentially unsafe ingredients. That's a major deal, and we wanted to learn more!
The female founders were kind enough to answer some of our most burning questions. Below, you'll find our full interview with Six Gldn!
Sweety High: Who is Six Gldn for?
Six Gldn: Everyone! Anyone who is conscious about the health of their skin, the long-term health of their body and cares about the planet. Our multi-benefit clean formulas bring every skin type to balance and a soft, plump, radiant, golden-hour glow. Our customers range from teenagers to over 70 and they all love it—whether their concerns are oiliness, large pores, sensitivity, dullness or fine lines and wrinkles. SH: What clean ingredients are found in your products? What are the benefits?
SG: So many we don't have space to list them all! All our ingredients are clean, but we've cherry-picked some of our favorites:
- Licorice: triple-action powerhouse that calms, brightens and balances sebum
- Angelica: soothes and calms, evens tone, powerful antioxidant protection
- Burdock: potent anti-inflammatory with anti-bacterial properties, calms stressed skin
- Astragalus: helps skin retain moisture and strengthens the barrier, calms, antioxidant protection
- Neem leaf: multiple anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory compounds, excellent for stressed, angry skin
- Ginseng: energizes, boosts radiance and balances sebum production
- Magnolia berry: powerful antioxidant that soothes and helps skin retain moisture
- THD ascorbate: advanced and more bio-available form of vitamin C
- Bakuchiol: natural retinol-alternative, smooths and improves the look of fine lines and wrinkles
SH: What harmful ingredients are never used?
SG: We've banned over 2,000 ingredients so consumers can trust our products to be safe for them and for the planet. Because there's very little regulation in the U.S., and many ingredients that are banned in other countries are still permitted in beauty products here, consumers have to learn what they should avoid. To put it in perspective, the U.S. has banned 30 ingredients and the EU has banned over 1,500. We took the EU standards as our minimum, and if there's any doubt about an ingredient, we don't use it.
For example, you won't find sulfates, phthalates, artificial fragrance, parabens, formaldehyde, phenoxyethanol, ethanolamines, silicones, talc, mica, PEGs, petroleum-based ingredients, mineral oils or hydroquinone.
SH: What's your best-selling product?
SG: Our Nourishing Face Oil ($99) has been a stand-out best-seller this winter. Made with a unique blend of fatty-acid and antioxidant-rich oils, and our exclusive Glow ReActivating Complex (TM), it's super lightweight but deeply hydrating and replenishing, and leaves skin looking radiant. All skin types love it—don't be scared of oils if you have oily skin, look for lighter oils that sink in without clogging pores. With jojoba oil, apricot kernel oil, ginseng and licorice, our Nourishing Face Oil also soothes and calms stressed, blemished skin. And everyone loves using it as a base for makeup! Warm a couple of drops in your palm and press on very lightly with fingertips. Allow it to sink in for a few moments then apply makeup as normal.
SH: Which products from Six Gldn should girls try?
SG: Our Botanical Cleansing Gel ($56) is packed with ultra-mild coconut-based cleansers and our exclusive Phyto-Active Detoxifying Complex (TM), the sulfate-free cleanser gently removes make-up, excess oil and impurities without drying the skin and leaves it soft, calm and hydrated.
Our Botanical Toner ($69) is infused with the same adaptogen-rich phyto-complex of licorice, angelica root, burdock, ginseng and magnolia berry. It lifts away traces of debris from pores, balances excess oil, tightens the look of pores, smooths, brightens and drenches skin in antioxidants that help protect against the environmental stressors like UV, blue light and pollution that can cause premature signs of aging such as fine lines, dullness and discoloration.
