The Skinny Confidential Hot Mess Ice Roller and Ice Queen Face Oil Belong In Your Beauty Routine
The Skinny Confidential's Hot Mess Ice Roller and Ice Queen Face Oil are just what the doctor ordered.
As a beauty writer, I get sent tons of products. From makeup to skincare and facial tools to haircare, I've seen it all. But when I received a package from The Skinny Confidential, I had no idea what I was in for. I've used an ice roller before and wasn't impressed at all. You know the one I'm talking about—everyone and their mother got it off Amazon. But once Lauryn Evarts Bosstick of The Skinny Confidential realized there was a market need for a good ice roller, she got to work.

The Brand
The Skinny Confidential was created by Lauryn Evarts Bosstick, queen of social media and an influencer I've followed for years. Available on the site is Get the F*** Out of the Sun (a book I bought for myself a few months back), the roller and the oil. Now that I have all three, I think I can say I'm officially a true fan.
If you, like me, wonder why Lauryn decided to create the ice roller in the first place, the story is a doozy. She had to undergo jaw surgery a few years ago and was left with a swollen, almost unrecognizable face. She was self-conscious and hated that there was nothing on the market to help. The bloat and swelling lasted for months, if not years, and that is no bueno. After years of research and development, the Hot Mess Ice Roller was created.

The Products
Both the Hot Mess Ice Roller ($69) and the Ice Queen Face Oil ($46) are available separately, but by purchasing the kit, you can save $17. Since they're meant to be used together, I recommend getting your hands on the bundle—but to each their own.
The Iconic Ice Kit: $98
The Iconic Ice Kit includes the Hot Mess Ice Roller and the Ice Queen Face Oil, all wrapped up in darling packaging. Before popping the ice roller in the freezer, I wiped it down with a baby wipe and placed it in a ziplock baggie. The next morning I took it out of the freezer and was shocked by how cold it was.

Before using the roller, I grabbed the face oil and slathered my face with it. I was instantly hooked because of the pomegranate and raspberry, which are both rich in vitamins and work together to provide skin regeneration, reduce wrinkles and dryness, improve elasticity and more. The consistency of the oil reminded me more of a serum and wasn't as thick as I'm used to, but I'm still a fan. I've been using it every morning along with the ice roller and have noticed a massive difference in the texture and tone of my skin.

Onto the ice roller—as I said, using the face oil with the ice roller is what's recommended, and for good reason. One of the million benefits of ice rolling is that it seeps your skincare products even more into your skin. So by applying a face oil before rolling, you're allowing for a better penetration process.
In comparison with the other ice roller I've tried, Hot Mess is thicker, heavier and sturdier. It even comes with a thumb grip so you can manage the amount of pressure you use! Not to mention the aesthetic. It's girly, pink and looks great on IG.

But the best and most notable difference is how cold it gets. Not only is it icy to the touch, but it stays that way for hours. After using it on my face for a few minutes (look HERE for how to use it), I do notice the temp go down, but that's only because of the heat my face gives off. If I let it chill on the counter for a minute, it gets cold again. Honestly, my mind can't comprehend it. Science, baby!
So, what are the benefits of ice-rolling, you ask? The process contours, tightens, depuffs, boosts circulation, shrinks pores, smoothes skin, aids with lymphatic drainage and reduces redness. Yes, it really does do all of that! I've been using it for a month and have truly noticed a difference in the feel and look of my face. My features are more defined and I swear my pores look smaller.

Perhaps my favorite part of the ice roller is the effect it has on my puffy skin, especially when I wake up in the morning. Sometimes, I don't get the best night's sleep, so I wake up looking bloated with puffy eyes. After ice rolling, though, I look like a new woman. I feel refreshed and my undereye bags have diminished.
Bottom Line
So, is the Iconic Ice Kit worth it? Yes, every damn penny. If you deal with puffiness, enlarged pores or even dull skin, I couldn't recommend this product enough. It's great for everyday use and even helps with post-surgery recovery (the whole reason it was created in the first place!). Brb, gotta go ice roll!
