So what was trending in 2025? Well, the country music genre saw unprecedented growth, while more and more Spotify listeners turned to podcasts and audiobooks, in audition to their musical offerings.

Of course, music was just as big as ever in 2024, and no one was bigger than Taylor Swift—for the second year in a row—with a whopping 26.6 billion streams around the globe. Spotify also celebrated Taylor by giving her the inaugural Global Top Artist badge, as well as delivering animated Easter eggs for anyone listening to her discography. Next up were The Weeknd, Bad Bunny, Drake and Billie Eilish, who also had an unforgettable year.

Rounding out the top five, Spotify has Billie Eilish's HIT ME HARD AND SOFT, Sabrina Carpenter's Short n' Sweet, KAROL G's MAÑANA SERÁ BONITO and Ariana Grande's eternal sunshine.

And when it comes to music culture, it's not just about how many listens a song gets, but also how it's shared and communicated. Spotify's most viral and socially shared hits were Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars' "Die With a Smile," Billie Eilish's "BIRDS OF A FEATHER," Benson Boone's "Beautiful Things," Teddy Swims' "Lose Control" and, of course, Chappell Roan's "Good Luck, Babe!"
