Is Starbucks’ New Ombré Pink Drink Worth the Hype? I Tried It to Find Out

Move over Pink Drink, there's a new rose-colored Starbucks beverage taking over this summer—the Ombré Pink Drink.

Yep, that's right. According to a couple of sources, a new multicolored pink drink officially became available at Starbucks yesterday, but when I went to my local store to order it, my barista had no idea what I was talking about.

I quickly whipped out my phone and explained to her that the drink was actually quite simple to make and wouldn't cause her a headache like the Unicorn and Mermaid Frappuccinos did.

The drink is made with their Cool Lime Refresher (with coconut milk instead of water) and topped with their Passion Iced Tea—you can even ask them to garnish it with lime if you're feeling extra adventurous.

My barista said she'd make this beautiful concoction and agreed that it sounded a lot easier to make than some of the other crazy beverages the chain has recently been hit with.

Two minutes later, my gorgeous two-toned ombré drink appeared before my eyes—a beautiful hot pink color on top, and a white shade on the bottom.

I rushed back to my desk at work so I could capture it's beauty here:

Before taking a sip, I decided to stir up the drink to see what hue of pink it would turn. It looked a little something like this when mixed:

When I finally took my first swig, I was pleasantly surprised by the taste. It's sweet, but not overwhelming. In my opinion, it tastes very similar to the original Pink Drink which has been said to taste like a pink Starburst.

I would highly recommend ordering this drink for two reasons: 1.) It's undeniably pretty and 2.) It's incredibly refreshing and perfect for a hot summer day.

Only downside? It costs $4.35 for a grande! A bit pricy, but totally worth it for the Insta, right?
