How Well Do Starbucks’ Zodiac Spring Drinks Match the Signs? We Tried Them to Find Out

The moment we discovered that Starbucks was matching drinks with customers based on zodiac signs, we had to jump right in and see what the experience was all about.

It's called Starbucks Star Signs, powered by the astrology app Sanctuary, and all you have to do is plug in your zodiac sign and whether you're taking a coffee break in the morning or at night for spring-themed personality insights and the Starbucks drink you should enjoy this season. The end result is a very cute graphic featuring your sign, some power words, a personality reading, your spring color and flower—plus your special zodiac Starbucks beverage.

We decided to have the whole editorial team try it out (which is how we discovered it consists entirely of fire signs and Geminis!) and share our personal experiences, which you can read below.

The Starbucks drink that aligns with my star sign the most is a Caramel Macchiato, and I couldn't agree more.

Nothing screams the first sign of the zodiac like this delicious, classic Italian drink. The rich, velvety coffee blend with a sweet kick is exactly how I would describe fiery Aries.

Daryn McElroyGemini

The delectable Paradise Refresher is a pineapple and coconut-based drink—imagine an elevated version of a piña colada—that instantly transported me to my tropical island fantasy. For the nomadic spirit of Gemini, this drink was the perfect way to get a taste of the world in the solace of my local coffee shop.

The Starbucks star sign chart places the morning-minded Gemini alongside daffodils and fresh linen. The core of our spirit is our vitality and creativity, perfectly aligned with the symbolism of the flower, whose appearance, changing with the seasons, represents the energy and hope of a new beginning, and the soft yellow of linen, a common effigy for optimism and imagination.

Maddy Myer – Gemini

I am not much of a coffee or tea drinker, but I was optimistic when I saw one of Starbucks' refreshers was my chosen drink. However, the Paradise Refresher flavor chosen for me consisted of coconut milk and pineapples—two things I don't like. Sadly, therefore, I would not like the drink, so I decided to give it a pass. Even so, with the drink's bright colors and tropical flavors, I think it's a great fit for my personality. I like to stay positive and look on the bright side of things as much as I can, and a vibrant yellow drink is reflective of that.

Janelle NearyLeo

For Leo, I was given the Strawberry Crème Frappuccino (just for fun, I tried it for both the morning and afternoon and got given the same choice for both).

Unfortunately, I found it a bit too sweet for my tastes. Still, as a true Leo, I can naturally appreciate the overall aesthetic appeal and Instagrammability of the drink itself. Not to mention, the bold brightness of the strawberry rippled through does speak to Leo's many layers and generally more-complex-than-meets-the-eye nature. However, I can't help but think that the drink might be a better fit for a sweet Pisces or ultra-aesthetic Libra than a Leo.

Susie Zuniga – Leo

When I think of spring, images of sunshine, picnics and blooming flowers come to mind, and the Strawberry Creme Frappuccino is definitely a drink that embodies those characteristics.

Visually, my frappuccino was not as dynamic as the images on the Starbucks website, so that was a little underwhelming, but it did retain a muted pink color that I appreciated. When I took my first sip, the most prominent flavor was actually the milk. It took a few more tastes, but eventually, the strawberry flavor stood out more. I do think the taste of the strawberries and milk combined is light and somewhat refreshing. Truthfully, I don't think this is a drink I would order again, but it was tasty and nice to veer from my usual Starbucks order. Additionally, I was a little disappointed that this was not a coffee-based drink or even something with tea, but I can see why Starbucks would select the Strawberry Creme Frappuccino for Leo. Leo's ruling planet is the sun, and strawberries need sunlight to grow, so it just makes sense. I also think strawberries are best consumed when you're outside enjoying a sunny day.

Amanda McArthurSagittarius

Sagittarius is a sign known for a sense of adventure, freedom-seeking and willingness to try new things, so I have to say I was a bit surprised when the zodiac drink offered was as, well, vanilla as the Vanilla Sweet Cream Nitro Cold Brew. Sure, the addition of nitrogen adds a frothier texture, but I was expecting something a bit more unusual or daring. Still, I couldn't complain, because the drink sounded delicious.

The drink itself wound up being quite tasty, with the boldness of the cold brew well-complemented by the addition of the floating cream and classic vanilla flavor. As someone who identifies more with my Pisces moon sign than my Sag sun sign, the flavor seemed more suited to my dreamy, creative side. What I realized after downing the drink, however, was that it packed a real punch in terms of caffeine—something intrepid Sagittarius explorers can definitely use. I also drank it ahead of an adventure of my own, just before hopping onto a whale-watching boat for five hours, and it wouldn't have been the same if I hadn't been fully caffeinated!
