Best Ways to Stay in Touch With Your Friends During Quarantine

Quarantine sucks.

At first, we were fine being holed up, watching Netflix and hanging with our dogs. But now? We're over it. We miss our friends and the family members we haven't been able to physically see, and we're counting down the days till we can hug them again. If you're feeling lonely during these weird times because of the Coronavirus, it's important to stay in contact with your loved ones.

Continue below for our tips to staying in touch with your friends during quarantine:

1. Have a Weekly Group FaceTime Sesh

One of our go-tos when it comes to hanging out with our friends during quarantine is FaceTime! The topics up for discussion are seriously endless, so don't worry about not having enough to talk about. Start a group text with your besties and come up with a day and time that works for everyone. We love the idea of having morning coffee dates because it motivates everyone to wake up at a decent hour and have a great start to the rest of their day.

2. Play 'Words With Friends'

During this period of social distancing, you're probably not using your brain to its full capacity. That's why it's important to do brain-stimulating activities! Invite your friends to play Words With Friends with you—and if you're not familiar with the game, it's pretty simple. It's basically like Scrabble, but on an app! You'll have a blast coming up with intriguing, and often silly, words. It's the perfect way to get your mind off of the mess that's going on outside!

3. Start a Book Club

When was the last time you read a book for fun? If you can't remember, it's time to change that, and fast. Reading is a leisure that we don't typically have time for, but since we're stuck at home, there are no excuses! Shoot a text to your friends and ask if they'd be interested in joining a book club with you. Once you agree on a book, choose a date that everyone needs to have finished it by. On that day, have a group FaceTime and discuss the book…you'll probably be able to find discussion topics on the author's site!

4. Send Each Other an Inspirational Quote Every Morning

We can't think of a better way to wake up every morning than by reading a quote to get the day started. Since we're all in need of some inspiration these days, choose your favorite quotes that have left a mark on you and share them with your friends. If it puts a smile on their face and takes their mind off of the Coronavirus for even one minute, then your job is done and it was all worth it.

5. Take Workout Classes Together

We know what you're thinking… how can you possibly take a workout class with your friends while you're in quarantine? But listen up, because it's possible! A bunch of our fave fitness influencers have taken to Instagram Live to do workout classes for free. If you and your friends all love someone in particular, make sure to tune in all at the same time to take the class. And while you won't physically be together, you'll be able to discuss how good it made you feel or how much it made you sweat!
