The Keys to Achieving Your Dream Glow Up
So many movies and TV shows depict this great "glow up" that the main character goes through that it's hard not to want one of your own.
In real life, however, a glow up rarely happens in the same way as the classic ugly-duckling-turned-actual-princess trope that's been shoved in our faces for years (looking at you, Princess Diaries).
Realistically, a glow up doesn't have to be physical or so drastic that all your classmates gasp and don't recognize you on the first day of class. It's more like a positive shift that you take on over a period of time with results that leave you better than before. Below, we've laid out some keys to making achieving your dream glow up easier.
1. Take Better Care of Yourself
Step one of making your dream glow up a reality may not be the most fun, but it just might be the most important. After all, it just makes sense that you need to take care of yourself in order to be your best self. Start small, but try incorporating more fruits and vegetables into your diet, eating out less and exercising more. It shouldn't be anything you hate doing (or else you won't do it), but over time these changes will make a big difference for your overall well-being. Try not to get obsessed with a specific goal like losing weight, as this can become super unhealthy, and instead focus on making healthy changes that become a regular part of your routine.

2. Check in on Your Mental Health
Your mental health is just as important as your physical health, if not more. While making healthy changes like eating better and exercising can affect your mental health in a positive way, it's still important to take stock and check in with yourself once in a while to make sure you don't get overwhelmed. Stress and anxiety are already hard to avoid at this age, so talking to someone about your experiences and getting help if necessary is the best way to move forward.
3. Surround Yourself With the Right People
Achieving your dream glow up isn't just about you, it's about the people around you as well. Surrounding yourself with toxic people who do nothing but spread nasty rumors and gossip can lead to you becoming a more negative, toxic person yourself, and that's pretty much the opposite effect to what you're going for. Having a solid group of friends who are there to support you, offer encouragement and help you grow, on the other hand, is key to making your glow up a reality.

4. Explore What Makes You Happy
Happiness is contagious, and happy people simply give off an energy that makes them more attractive to the people around them. When you have genuine interests that excite you, this makes you more interesting and makes people think "wow, she's really got it together!" Whether you discover a love for a new hobby like hiking or crafting or start experimenting with cooking and baking, having things you love to do on your own is a great step towards achieving the glow up of your dreams.

Overall, glowing up isn't about how you look. It's about how you feel, and feeling great is always the best way to be.
