5 Ways to Romanticize Your Life This Summer

If there's one thing we support doing more of in 2023, it's romanticizing our own lives.

After all, you've been putting in the work to live your best "main character" life, so shouldn't you be able to enjoy that life to the fullest by appreciating every little moment? We think so, and we also think that summer is the perfect time to embrace this energy. With that said, let's talk about some simple ways that you can romanticize your life this summer (and beyond).

1. Slow Down

Seriously, just slow down. It can be so easy to rush through life, whether you realize it or not, and this can lead to missing out on the joy in everyday moments. Those moments may not seem like much, but living more mindfully is the key to realizing that everything you do is worth romanticizing. From making your coffee in the morning to watching the raindrops fall from through your window during a summer storm, it's time to slow down and take in all of it.

2. Get Grounded

No, we don't mean getting grounded by your parents for doing something you shouldn't have. Rather, we mean to get back into nature and really relax into it. Go barefoot at the beach or kick off your shoes when having a picnic outdoors. Take some deep breaths and soak up the sunshine. Find beauty in the basic moments, and you'll soon notice how many beautiful moments there really are.

3. Take Photos of Everything

The light streaming through your window in the morning? Snap it. Your sandals looking amazing while you soak up the sunshine outside? Yep, it's photo-worthy. From the mundane to the moments you've been waiting all summer for, take as many photos as your heart desires. You won't regret it, even if the person across from you rolls their eyes as you take a pic of the dish you just ordered or as you ask for your photo to be taken in front of something that grabbed your attention. Just do it, as you'll soon look back on these pictures as memories of a summer you lived up to the fullest.

4. Create Your Own Summer Soundtrack

Live like you're in your own movie (or even just a music video) by curating your own soundtrack for the summer. After all, what would the story of a main character be without the right background music? So put together the perfect playlist based on no one's taste but your own. Then, every time you hear one of the songs later on in the year or even years from now, you'll have some amazing memories to roll through like a camera roll in your head.

 5. Write It Out

If journaling hasn't become a part of your daily routine yet, it's time to pick up the habit. While it takes just a small amount of time, it can have a pretty huge impact on the way you live your life and how you view everyday interactions. Plus, it's the perfect jumping-off point for manifesting what you want out of life. If you don't know where to begin or feel awkward just putting pen to paper and writing out your thoughts, a prompted journal like the Maniscripting Journal ($60) or Awaken ($17.71) can really help.
