The Best Stylish and Sustainable Brands to Shop Way Beyond Earth Month
We love that April is Earth Month, reminding us all to really think about our impact on the environment and do more to protect mother nature for future generations—but the work done over the course of the month is just the start of the conversation.
There's a lot that can be done all times of year, and one of the simplest ways to do your part is by ditching fast fashion brands and focusing on buying your clothes from labels that are sustainable as they are stylish. Not sure where to start? Here's a collection of some of our recent favorites to shop all year long.
BONBONWHIMS
BONBONWHIMS doesn't just make some of the cutest Y2K-inspired jewelry and accessories we've ever seen—the brand is also super sustainable. Rather than manufacturing their cute and colorful beads and accents themselves, the brand uses deadstock plastic pieces to create their jewelry. Every custom piece is made in small batches and 100% unique, with every ornament keeping that plastic out of a landfill.

Harper Wilde
Not only does Harper Wilde make super cute bras, but they'll help you get rid of your used, ratty and no-longer-so-cute bras with their Recycle, Bra program. A shipment bag is included with any purchase, so you can send in your worn bras so they can be given new life. To date, the program has already saved more than 92,000 bras from landfills! All of the brand's packaging is also compostable, transforming into food for plants, and sales from their capsule collections also go to organizations for worthy causes.

Kindly
Kindly is another great intimates brand with a massive emphasis on sustainability in 2023. Their newest collection features both bras and bottoms made with pieces made from beech tree-based modal, which is both breathable and temperature-regulating, as well as recycled nylon and sugarcane-based foam. The brand is available exclusively at Walmart, and with everything under $20, it's as friendly for your wallet as it is for the planet

MeUndies
MeUndies has some of the comfiest, sleekest underwear around, truly feeling like a second skin, and much of that is thanks to many products being made with sustainable fabrics. Their signature MicroModal, for example, is made from plant-based beechwood, making for a soft, stretchy feel. And not only are these materials good for the planet, but they have some truly adorable prints, too.

Proof
Proof's reusable leakproof period underwear is life-changing, not just for the environment, but for the day-to-day life of anyone who menstruates. They're great for the earth because they keep disposable period products out of landfills, while also saving you money in the long run and looking shockingly cute in the process. They'll also leave you feeling secure, protected and comfortable at any stage of your period.

Giant Vintage
Giant Vintage does things a little differently from other sunglasses brands, repurposing vintage frames and utilizing recycled materials, giving a second life to old products. We love them for both their timeless looks and styles that have come back into fashion, as well as how the brand reduces waste with creative repurposing.

Girlfriend Collective
Girlfriend Collective is a fair-trade fashion brand that puts ethical manufacturing and recycled materials first. Their pieces take plastics from old water bottles and fishing nets, rescued from landfills and oceans, and transform them into great-looking everyday pieces. This year, they're also working in collaboration with One Tree Planted. For every one of their new recycled cotton RCOT T-shirts sold (made with 50% recycled cotton and 50% organic cotton), they'll be planting one tree. Since recycled cotton uses 99% less water and 54% less energy than traditional cotton, not only is the shirt sustainable, but a purchase goes the extra mile to better the planet.

ÉTICA
"ÉTICA" literally translates to "ethics" in a number of languages, so it should come as no surprise that this denim brand is built on fair labor practices and sustainability. They've partnered with organizations around the world to build community with sustainability initiatives, and even the way they make their jeans is better for the planet. Their wash technique reduces water usage by 90% and energy use by 70% while avoiding the toxic chemicals used by many other denim manufacturers.

LA Relaxed
LA Relaxed is a unique brand that keeps its environmental impact down by keeping things small. Their in-house process is one-of-a-kind, allowing a new garment to go from the design studio to the pattern room and sample sewer, then the cutting table, production line inspection and packing line in under 100 steps. Their products are all limited, so they never overproduce, and they're made with natural fibers, sourced locally in Los Angeles.
