Everything You Need to Know About Sugarfina’s New Holiday Sips and Cravings Boxes

When I think of elegant, delicious and beautifully packaged candies, Sugarfina is always the first brand that springs to mind.

Their treats are well-known for packing a visual punch as strong as their sweet and tempting flavors, making them great gifts for even those who are toughest to please. With the holidays officially here, they've definitely been on my mind—and Sugarfina is fully prepared with a number of exclusive seasonal offerings, including their new Holiday Sips Candy Bento Box and Holiday Cravings Bento Box.

When reps for the brand reached out to me and asked if I'd be interested in sampling their holiday boxes, I practically jumped at the offer to give everything a taste. Keep reading to find out what these specialty boxes are all about.

The Boxes

I was sent two fabulous boxes to review. The first was the Holiday Sips 3 Piece Candy Bento Box, featuring three small boxes of candies inspired by festive holiday drinks. That includes Cranberry Cocktail Bears, Espresso Martini and Spiked Eggnog Bears candies, and the box retails for $30.

The eight-piece Holiday Cravings Bento Box contains even more goodies, including the three from the Holiday Sips Box, plus Candy Cane Caramels, Champagne Bears, Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Caramels, Merry Berries and Sugar Cookies. This one sells for $70—and don't worry, just because some of these flavors are based on fancy cocktails and champagne doesn't mean they're not all appropriate for the whole family.

Both boxes are also gorgeous, elegant and sturdy. This is the kind of packaging you'll want to hang onto long after the candies are gone for storing festive knickknacks and holiday cards. They are that cute.

The Candies

Sugar Cookies

Just because these Sugar Cookies candies look a little plain doesn't mean they're not utterly delicious. These small sugar cookie balls are dipped in white chocolate and then rolled around in very fine sugar, to create poppable treats with just the right amount of buttery sweetness.

Cranberry Cocktail Bears

These Cranberry Cocktail Bears might be my favorite gummy bears in the world. Their texture is softer than the other Sugarfina gummy bears I've had in the past, with a nice chew and a strong, tart, cranberry flavor that perfectly blends sweetness with a hint of sour. They're vibrant and refreshing, making them almost too easy to eat—not that that's a problem.

Candy Cane Caramels

I don't think I'd ever had a minty caramel before, so this one was a new experience for me. These take Sugarfina's signature buttery and rich caramels and coat them in both dark and white chocolate, plus peppermint candy, to create a minty flavor at the exterior with a sweet caramel flavor at the center. The two contrasting flavors balance remarkably well, making these as tasty as they are inventive.

Champagne Bears

Sugarfina's alcohol-free champagne bears are their best-known offering. They're infused with real Dom Pérignon Vintage Champagne to create Brut and Rosé flavors. I've never had champagne myself, but I'd describe the flavor as fruity and lightly floral, with the pink bears tasting slightly more berry-like. Point is, they're super tasty, and the extra chew in the texture will make them last slightly longer, too.

Merry Berries

Red raspberry candies are totally classic, and though I've seen them disparaged as "old people candy," I've always adored them. These Merry Berries from Sugarfina might be the tastiest I've had yet. They consist of a boldly flavored raspberry jelly surrounded by tiny, crunchy nonpareils, making their texture just as addictive as the fruity flavor. Perhaps our elders are on to something.

Espresso Martini

If you don't love coffee, you are not going to like this Espresso Martini candy. It consists of dark chocolate, with a hard candy shell in the center filled with potent liquid coffee, before the whole thing is rolled in crushed espresso beans. Feeling tired? This one is sure to perk you right up.

Spiked Eggnog Bears

These Spiked Eggnog Bears have a tougher texture than the other gummy bears in the box, but they're still perfectly tempting. They have a bit of a fruity, almost apple-like flavor, with a creamy texture and a hint of vanilla and cinnamon. They won't be everyone's cup of tea, but those who like them will love them.

Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Caramels

I'm not sure if it's possible to go wrong with chocolate, sea salt and caramel. These candies consist of Sugarfina's famous caramel coated in luxurious dark chocolate, with a hint of sea salt coming through to enhance its other flavors. Sugarfina caramel has an almost raisin-like essence, and these flavors are perfectly proportioned to bring out the best in each one.

Bottom Line

If they're within your budget, Sugarfina's holiday boxes make excellent gifts. Each box has a nice amount of variety, everything tastes fantastic and the packaging makes it clear that you're delivering an exquisite present without skimping on the details. Even if the recipient doesn't love every flavor, they're sure to have a favorite in each box.

Of course, they are likely to be a bit rich for some people's tastes. Not everyone has the cash—or the desire—to splurge on premium candies in high-end boxes. But, if you are looking to treat someone you love (or yourself) this holiday season, this is a great place to start.
