The New “Supergirl” Trailer Will Blow Your Mind

The first trailer for Supergirl is here! The upcoming CW series stars Melisa Benoist as Kara Zor-El, Superman's cousin from the planet Krypton, leading us through her journey as she balances her super persona with her career and relationships. If you're not convinced it'll be great, here are 9 reasons we can't wait to check it out.

1. Because the updated Supergirl mythology is already perfect.

2. On Earth, Kara Jor-El assumes the identity of Kara Danvers. She is SO awkward and SO relatable.

3. Because this is going to be epic.

4. As Superman's cousin, Kara can fly, obviously. 

5. She can even stop a falling plane from certain doom. Where can we get powers like that?

6. Plus it has a strong opinion on what girl power is all about (and a hashtag)

Kara: "Should she be called Super…woman?"

Cat: "What do you think is so bad about 'girl'? I'm a girl, and your boss, and powerful, and rich and hot and smart. So if you perceive Supergirl as anything less than excellent, isn't the real problem you?"

7. Edna Mode would say "No capes!" But Kara's cape is fabulous, and apparently makes her a better flyer.

8. And the new Supergirl outfit is flawless.

9. Plus, the trailer features "Fight Song" by our girl Rachel Platten. There couldn't be a better fit!
