SZNS on Playfully Walking the Line Between Naughty and Nice on Holiday Single, ‘If Santa Knew’
After recently being named one of the Grammys' 2024 Girl Groups to Watch, SZNS is closing out the year with a fun and festive twist in the form of the soulful new single, "If Santa Knew."
The pop quartet—consisting of Summer, Autumn, Winter and Spring—have made a name for themselves with their striking harmonies, irresistible lyricism and powerful stage presence. The new track puts all of those qualities center stage, bringing a new Christmas classic to life by playing with your expectations.
It begins as a sweet R&B ballad about missing your love during the holidays before exploding into a bold pop beat as the group reveals how they might have just earned their places on Santa's naughty list. With the girl group teasing some big things in the new year—including the promise of four seasonal EPs across 2025—we got the chance to catch up with them and find out more about how "If Santa Knew" came to be and what they hope Santa brings for them this year.
A Message to the Fans
SZNS: SZNS greetings! The four of us really love the holidays, and we figured what better way to celebrate than to make our own Christmas song?
We started out by rapid-fire making as many winter-inspired jokes as possible, which then very quickly evolved into the second verse, and after an hour or so, one of our favorite songs we've ever written. It was so much fun sharing our favorite holiday memories, hometown rekindles, rituals and traditions, and we wanted the song to have that same energy—festive, but also playful and a little bit sexy!
'If Santa Knew' might make you laugh, might make you cry, might make you dance, might make you text your hometown "one that got away" this Xmas. We can't say for sure—but it will definitely make you feel the holiday spirit. Sure, we don't have snow, and it's like 70° but you can't say that LA doesn't have SZNS 🤪
