PREMIERE: Tayler Holder Confronts the Lonely Realities of the Entertainment Industry in ‘HUMAN’

Sometimes, it can be all too easy to forget that behind our favorite accounts and content, there are real people, with real feelings.

Tayler Holder knows this well. With more than 20 million followers and 1 billion likes on TikTok, he's been one of the platform's biggest success stories, but he feels the pressure of that success every day. That's what drove him to write his vulnerable new single, "HUMAN"—and we got the chance to ask Tayler precisely what the song and its lyrics mean to him throughout it all.

The Story Behind 'HUMAN'

Tayler Holder: The story behind "HUMAN" is to just simply remind everyone how much we all truly have in common and how I'm "HUMAN" just like everyone else.

As I have been one of the most successful people in this industry, I've very quickly realized this industry was not at all what I thought it was going to be. I can honestly say this career path that I have chosen has truly put me in the loneliest points of my life. And there are so many amazing individuals inspired by me and have no idea about the huge commitments, pressure and responsibilities that come with this industry. I wrote this song to hopefully give a better idea of what the industry is really like. And the truth behind it is that it really is so empty and so lonely.

What 'Human' Means

TH: This song means the world to me. It's honestly the realest and most accurate song I've ever written. I hope this song helps people realize that they are not alone in their struggles, and I hope it gives the next generation hope to try to help change the way this industry is looked at.

Tayler's Favorite Lyric

TH: "Cause I'm only human." Those few lines are so precious and meaningful because I truly do think people see us in this "light" and forget that we are human beings still. And that we fall and fail just like everyone else. But we are held to such high standards because of this platform we have, and they leave us no room for maturity.
