5 Standout Moments from Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour Chicago Dates
There is truly no better time to be a Swiftie than right now.
Since the pandemic's start, Taylor Swift has used this time to reinvent pop stardom and consistently pump out innovative projects—from the traversal of new genres, sister albums and re-recording a chunk of her catalog for full ownership. This summer, at the height of her career (though, with Taylor, you never know what new peak she'll reach), she embarked on the tour of the century: the Eras Tour—and now, we can all watch the magic unfold on the big screen with Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour.
By a miracle, we were fortunate enough to attend the Eras Tour in Chicago and discover firsthand all the hijinks that go down at a Taylor Swift concert. Below, we've laid out five standout moments from Taylor's three nights in Chicago.
Maren Morris Makes an Appearance for 'You All Over Me'
Does anyone remember when Taylor Swift brought out a special guest at nearly every stop on the Reputation tour?
Unfortunately, appearances are a bit more scarce during the Eras Tour, but we've already received surprise performances from Ice Spice, Phoebe Bridgers and, most recently, Maren Morris. Maren came to the second night of the Eras Tour in Chicago for a duet of their song, "You All Over Me" from Fearless (Taylor's Version).
@marenmorris Thank you so much for having me @Taylor Swift . Your generosity to me in these last 7 years is insurmountable and I love you so. #theerastour #erastour ♬ original sound – marenmorris

Justice for 'the lakes'
Folklore is easily one of our favorite Taylor albums, and the bonus track, "the lakes," might even be one of our favorite Taylor tracks of her entire discography. So, to say that we were excited when she revealed that track as the surprise song of the first night is an understatement—we were screaming our heads off.
Taylor prefaced the track with an anecdote about how she selects the song of the night, and Soldier Field sitting on Lake Michigan made "the lakes" the perfect choice for Chicago. And, yes, the track is even more beautiful in person.

Taylor's Adorable Outfit Malfunction
The same night Taylor performed "the lakes," she welcomed the acoustic set with an acknowledgment that she put her dress on incorrectly, forgetting to put her arm through the dress' sleeve.
"Don't look at that!" She joked before strategically adjusting her hair to cover the mishap.

Taylor Swallows a Bug During the evermore Set
There's one major issue with outdoor concerts: bugs are still out with a vengeance, and Taylor wasn't able to avoid their havoc. On the final show in Chicago, a bug flew straight down her throat, causing Taylor to have a coughing fit during the evermore set.
"Is there any chance that none of you saw that?" Taylor asked.
Trading Friendship Bracelets
Of course, no Eras Tour date would be complete without trading friendship bracelets before the show begins. This new tradition is an ode to Taylor's Midnights B-side "You're on Your Own, Kid," when she sings, "So, make the friendship bracelets/ Take the moment and taste it," in the track's bridge.
Yes, we did, in fact, participate, and we can wholeheartedly recommend it's a great way to bond with your fellow Swifties and show off your creativity.
