Tegan Marie Talks Her ‘Dream’ Grand Ole Opry Debut in New Video

Known as the show that made country music famous, the Grand Ole Opry has launched and supported the careers of countless country music artists since it began in 1925.

And on August 18, 2017, Tegan Marie joined their ranks.

In a new video posted to the Grand Ole Opry YouTube, Tegan takes us through her experience of performing on the Opry stage for the very first time.

"I was pretty wrapped up in it," Tegan says of her performance. "I was like, 'Oh my gosh'; I was looking up at everyone and I couldn't believe it. I thought it was a dream."

After visiting the Opry at 7-years-old, returning to perform on a stage with such a rich history and profound contribution to the country music world had quite the impact on the young artist.

"If I could just go back and tell my 7-year-old self that I would be here, a few years later, performing—making my debut—I probably wouldn't believe it," Tegan says in the video. "It was definitely a full-circle moment."

Tegan's "Opry Debut" video comes on the heels of the kick-off party and sold-out concert at the Ole Red Nashville to launch Opry Entertainment's Opry NextStage, a collaboration with four rising country artists to amplify and support these talented performers at the forefront of their careers. The introductory class features Riley Green, Tenille Townes, Travis Denning and, of course, Tegan Marie.

You can expect a lot more from these rising country stars over the next year, as they'll participate in performances, documentary series and other special opportunities, all backed Opry Entertainment.
