5 Last-Minute, Low-Effort New Year’s Resolution Ideas
It's Jan. 4, and you still haven't decided your resolution for the New Year. That's okay. We aren't judging. We know how challenging it can be to commit to one. You don't want to fail and disappoint yourself, or you might not have time to do something ambitious. That's why we have arrived to help you think of something that will improve your confidence and health in 2024. Plus, New Year's resolutions can be a great way to practice discipline and accountability.
Ahead, we have a few low-effort, last-minute tasks that will be effective for your self-improvement.
Wake Up Before 9 AM
Whenever we wake up past 10 a.m., we feel sluggish for the rest of the day. That might be okay if we didn't have jobs, but we must combat burnout by having stress-free work days. So, we choose to work before 9 a.m.. It gives us time for ourselves, which makes us happier when we log into the workplace.
That said, it's okay to sleep in occasionally, too. We could all use a day to reset with extra rest.

Take Your Makeup Off Every Night
We've all had those long days when we want to come home and sleep immediately. However, your skin will cry when you refuse to take that makeup off at night. Encourage good skincare habits in 2024—we always feel our best when we are blemish-free. Plus, there's nothing like getting in bed feeling clean.

Write One Thing You Enjoyed Each Day
Arguably, this might be the easiest thing to do on this list. Before you go to bed, reflect on the past 24 hours and write one thing you are grateful for that happened. It doesn't have to be anything extreme. It can be as simple as enjoying the way the sky looks or eating a piece of your favorite candy. Expressing gratitude is psychologically proven to improve your mental health—and helps you appreciate even the little things in life.
Take the Stairs
We thought about telling you to fit 30 minutes of workout into your daily routine. But we understand that can be a hefty task. Instead, you can take the stairs over an escalator or elevator. It's a perfect way to get your heart pumping throughout the day. If you've ever tried the Stair Master machine at the gym, you'll know how quickly walking on an incline can tighten your glutes, so why not do it in the wild, too?

Floss Nightly
We all despise the dentist's dreaded question, "How often do you floss?" And then they give you the spiel about how necessary it is to avoid cavities and other periodontal diseases. Believe it or not, they're right! After flossing daily for the past year, we can notice a difference in our gum health. Yes, it takes motivation to add the extra step once you finish brushing, but it'll save you the shameful "no" at your next check-up, and, eventually, it will become less bloody and painful.
