5 Feel-Good Movies to Put You in the Thanksgiving Mood
Thanksgiving might be one of the most underrated holidays in the United States. It has freat food, better weather than Christmas and you can find the best shopping deals of the year during that entire weekend.
Unfortunately, it often gets overshadowed by October and December's major holidays, so we don't get a lot of entertainment about it. That said, there are still a few great Thanksgiving movies in the world. Below, discover five of them to get you into the spirit of gratitude.
Addams Family Values
Depending on who you ask, Addams Family Values isn't a "Thanksgiving movie." However, as Wednesday and Pugsley head to Camp Chippewa in the fall, the two siblings must partake in their annual Thanksgiving play, where Wednesday stars as Pocahontas. It brings out the problematic history behind the holiday while also reminding us that our appreciation for others can go beyond the fourth Thursday in November.
Free Birds
Starring Owen Wilson, Woody Harrelson and Amy Poehler, Free Birds follows the story of Reggie, a turkey who gets pardoned by the President of the United States. Suddenly, Reggie is kidnapped, transported back to the very first Thanksgiving, and must team up with his new friends to return to the present day.

The Wiz
Much like Addams Family Values, The Wiz isn't inherently a Thanksgiving movie, but the opening scene where Dorothy and her family eat their holiday dinner makes it a November classic. It's a take on the Broadway musical. With a stacked cast of Diana Ross, Michael Jackson and more, it'll have you in a good mood all season long.
The Blind Side
Most people probably associate football with Thanksgiving—it's one of the only sports still active on the date. So, of course, there had to be a drama highlighting the association. The Blind Side introduces a troubled teen who is taken under the wing of a suburban family on Thanksgiving. It's a heartwarming story of redemption and intimacy—two things we could all use this year.
Thanksgiving — Nov. 17, 2023
