5 Music-Themed Video Games to Foster Your Creative Spirit
These days, it seems like most video games we find are about exercising logical strategy. When you're right-brain dominant like us, that isn't always the most fulfilling. Sometimes, we simply want to sing, dance or work on our rhythm.
After digging through the shelves of Steam and the Nintendo store, we've found plenty of games that are right up our alley and any other music lover. Below, discover our favorite creative games, including Hatsune Miku, Just Dance and more.
Hatsune Miku: Project Diva
Have you ever wondered what it was like to be one of the most massive pop stars in the universe? With Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA, you transform into this teal-color icon, unarguably the most successful artist in her universe. The latest iteration of the game, Mega Mix+, includes nearly 200 tracks and offers the opportunity to customize her performance outfits and setlists.
Just Dance 2024 Edition
Just Dance, undoubtedly, was our favorite video game to play during childhood. As you can tell from the title, this long-standing game will allow you to "just dance" to your favorite music from the year. This year's roster boasts performances of tracks from Miley Cyrus, SZA and more.

Rhythm Sprout
Imagine if Fall Guys met the Nintendo DS's Rhythm Heaven. Then, you'd have Rhythm Sprout. This wacky game allows you to match the beat while simultaneously fighting enemies. It also has a rich storyline and dialogue, filled with "silly jokes and pop culture references."
Trombone Champ
If you've been on TikTok in the past few years, you've probably seen those viral videos of people playing viral hits, like Olivia Rodrigo's "Driver's License" or Miley Cyrus' "Flowers" on the trombone. It's pretty much the horn version of Guitar Hero. However, the controls are very sensitive, so you'll likely be laughing throughout the entire game!
vivid/stasis
Anyone on the hunt for a rhythm game that goes beyond playing music will enjoy vivid/stasis. This 8-bit game also serves as a visual novel, as you "uncover the dark truth about a mysterious organization." Currently, it's under early access, but it's a one-of-kind combination, so we think it's worth checking out now.
