The 5 Best Pencils for Flawless Eyebrows

As someone who went through an unfortunate thickly filled brow phase, I know that your eyebrows can drastically alter your overall look.

Thankfully, I've learned to put the pomade down and no longer get intense with trends—to this day, I am still nervous to try laminated eyebrows. Along the way, I've learned what works best for me and my brows: lightly penciled brows. Brow pencils can give you the best control to create the shape and darkness you like, and they're beginner-friendly.

Below, find five of my favorite brow pencils, from drugstore to luxury brands.

Wet n Wild Micro Brow Pencil: $3.29

Honestly, you can't beat $3, but thankfully, this brow pencil can also get the job done well. This pencil has one of the skinniest tips I've ever used, which makes it perfect for drawing natural hair strokes in your brows. And it doesn't rub off after long wear—because some brow pencils do not agree with oily skin.

Unfortunately, this pencil has a limited shade range, but if you have brown to black hair, it's a great starter pencil.

NYX Professional Makeup Vegan Micro Eyebrow Pencil: $10.99

Of all drugstore products, the NYX Micro Eyebrow Pencil might be one of my favorites. It's almost indistinguishable from the high-end brands.

The best thing about this pencil is the texture. If an eyebrow pencil is too smooth, it might give you an unwanted dark eyebrow. Instead, this pencil is buildable, which is amazing when you want to switch between light and intense brows.

Fenty Brow MVP Ultra Fine Brow Pencil & Styler: $25

Rihanna is the queen of offering a wide shade range. The MVP Brow Pencil has a whopping 14 shades, so if you've ever struggled with finding a pencil that matched your hair's undertone, definitely try this one from Fenty Beauty.

I also love that this eyebrow pencil has a brush over a spoolie. Spoolies, in my experience, can feel rough against the skin because of its coarse texture, but this brush is much softer and makes it easier to blend the pencil strokes.

Benefit Cosmetics Goof Proof Brow Pencil: $25

Benefit's Goof Proof Brow Pencil really is, well, goof-proof.

This pencil is probably the best for beginners because it has a thick, angled tip to simplify filling your brows. Once you have your perfect thickness, all you have to do is use the pointed tip to define the tail of your eyebrows.

This pencil leans more creamier than others on this list, so it does a stellar job of creating a bold brow.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz: $25

After nearly six years of filling in my eyebrows, Anastasia Brow Wiz is the product I always come back to. It has all the qualities of each of the pencils I've listed: it's buildable, has a great shade range and is friendly to my acne-prone skin.

According to their website, the Brow Wiz has a unique wax formula, which is why I probably can only get the one-of-a-kind fluffy brow of my dreams from this product!
