5 Tips to Make Any Flight More Comfortable

With all the news about flight malfunctions, you've probably become more wary about your next airline trip. However, you can confidently know that traveling via plane is still one of the most reliable modes of transportation.

That said, we know that logic isn't always a solace. If you can't shake the nerves of being above the clouds, we have five helpful tips to help you chill out in the sky.

Start Your Day With Essential Oils

On the day of your trip, pat some calming essential oils onto your pressure points. Holistic medicine shows it will alleviate your nerves, especially if you choose a stress-relieving scent like chamomile or lavender.

Know what your worries are, and research what is best for your needs. If you get nauseous when you have anxiety, you may want to opt for something with anti-nausea effects, such as peppermint. If you'll be doing some work during your travels, you might want to select rosemary to get you into a productive mindset.

Know That Your Flight Attendant Is Your Friend

Your flight attendants want you to have a safe and happy trip. They have studied to offer you the most comfortable experience, from being knowledgeable about your aircraft to delivering safety instructions before you take off. You are more than welcome to ask them for help or to deliver a calming cup of tea or a snack to ease your anxiety.

Learn Whether You're More of a Window or Aisle Seat Person

We cannot stress this enough: your location on the plane can drastically determine the quality of your flight. As always, we recommend purchasing your tickets in advance to get your ideal seat. As you start to fly more often, you'll learn whether you prefer an aisle or window seat (no judgment if you like the middle seat, too).

The aisle seat may be a better choice for you if you know your stress will cause you to take frequent trips to the bathroom. But if you want to relax and have something to comfortably lean against, try the window seat!

Bring a Blanket

We know, we know. You'd probably rather be in bed relaxing. However, you can bring a piece of home in the air with you by taking your favorite and coziest blanket. Wrapping up in something fuzzy will have you feeling like you're getting the warm hug we could all use.

Don't Be Afraid to Bring the Melatonin

Worst case scenario, you can go to sleep. But it's not always simple to fall asleep, especially if your nervousness is causing an adrenaline rush. Bring some emergency melatonin so you can get some Zs. Also know that you don't have to worry about getting left on the plane because your flight attendant will wake you up when it is time to go.
