5 Book to Film Adaptations Coming Soon to Big Screens
As book lovers, nothing is more satisfying than your favorite story coming to life as a film. Sure, you can visualize the events all you want in your head. But a movie is tangible—and often brings more content than you previously had.
Already, there is an entire stack of adaptations arriving this year. Below, learn more about the most anticipate flicks, including reboots of cult-classic musicals, viral BookTok novels and more.
Argylle — Feb. 2
Perhaps the most elusive of the bunch is Argylle by Elly Conway. Apple TV+ bought the rights to the film adaptation in 2021 before the book was published (in 2024). The spy action comedy has a star-studded cast consisting of Bryce Dallas Howard (who plays the author, Elly), Dua Lipa, Henry Cavill, John Cena and many more.
It Ends With Us — TBA
Colleen Hoover is probably the most popular author on TikTok. It was only a matter of time before her most viral novel, It Ends with Us, got adapted. Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni team up to breathe life into the rollercoaster relationship of Lily Bloom and Ryle Kincaid that Colleen originally wrote about in 2016. The film is currently scheduled to release in February but is rumored to be delayed since no trailer has dropped.

The Idea of You — May 2
Harry Styles fans, there is yet another movie inspired by the rockstar. Rather than following the life of a teen girl who catches a superstar's eye, The Idea of You finds a divorceé learning to love after she crosses paths with Hayes Campbell, a member of the famous boy band August Moon. Anne Hathaway will star as the lead alongside Nicholas Galitzine (Red, White & Royal Blue, Purple Hearts).
Turtles All the Way Down — TBA
John Green owned the '10s with The Fault in Our Stars and Paper Towns. He's returned to take over the '20s because he is finally releasing the adaptation to his 2017 book, Turtles All the Way Down. The film will follow the story of Aza Holmes, a high schooler with OCD and anxiety, grieving the loss of her father.
Wicked — Nov. 27
You probably first met Wicked as the musical starring Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth, but before it hit Broadway, it was a novel written by Gregory Maguire. And now, this November, you can relive the backstory of Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West, in a two-part series led by Cynthia Erivo in the titular role and Ariana Grande stepping into the shoes of Glinda the Good Witch.
