We thought December's weather was bad, but January is another beast. The forecast has our hometowns reaching below-zero temperatures in a few weeks. More than ever, we want nothing more than a tropical vacation. Humidity, sunshine and most importantly, the sweet, sweet beauty and fashion of summer.

Since we won't be on a trip to an island anytime soon, we'll be manifesting by dressing ourselves in warm weather attire. First course of action? Recreating our beach waves in the winter.

Below, discover five different ways to achieve the hair look without the salt air.

Curl-Enhancing Cream

Most people don't have naturally pin-straight hair. More than likely, you have at least some waves. With curl-enhancing cream, you can transform the slight bend in your hair into effortless waves, looking fresh off the beach. You might even realize you have more of a curl pattern than you'd think.

Texturizing Spray

If you can't bring yourself to the salt air, bring the salt air to you.

Haircare brands have started to bottle sea salt to help bring life back into your hair. Some may call them a sea salt spray, while others will refer to them simply as a "texturizing spray." But in just a few spritzes and scrunches, you will definitely be shocked by the texture.

Overnight Braids

The best styling is the low maintenance kind, and when you put your hair in a chunky braid overnight, you can wake up with soft waves. It's the perfect way to avoid heat damage and pesky product build-up. Plus, it's totally free.

Air-Drying Your Hair

Are you lucky enough to have natural, defined waves? After you take your shower, consider skipping the blow dryer. Instead, wrap your hair in a microfiber towel that won't pull on your ringlets. Once its damp, just let nature takes its course.

Break Out the Hot Tools

Hot tools aren't so scary. When you take the right precautions—with a foolproof heat protectant—you don't need to stress about worrying about damage. Using a flat iron, hair waver or curling wand can be the best option if you need last-minute texture or simply want more precision. Honestly, this can lead to some of the most beautiful results!
