6 Easy Ways to Work on Your Self-Improvement

We're deep into 2023. As we make it further into the year, we begin to run on autopilot, which ultimately brings on a whole new basket of issues. So, it's time for a reset.

Your life can instantly feel rejuvenated by adding a few self-improvement techniques. If you're feeling run down as the end of another year approaches, here are a few suggestions to improve your mental and physical health for months to come.

Brain-Training Games

We can't be the only ones who have experienced extreme brain fog since the pandemic started. Our memory is totally shot. But we don't plan for things to stay that way. This year, we started implementing brain-training games, like daily crosswords and sudoku, into our routines, and we can already see an increase in our focus.

Clean Eating

Arguably, clean eating might be the most challenging on this list. Who wants to give away guilty pleasure treats like fast food and desserts? It took us a while, but whenever we get into the groove of it, we feel much lighter and more energetic. That said, you don't have to completely remove your favorite snacks from your diet. It just makes it even more special when you have a "cheat" day.

Journaling

If you have something clogging your mind, journaling may help. Writing down your feelings can be cathartic for most, especially when you feel too ashamed to share your thoughts with a loved one or therapist. It's the one place where you can acknowledge something is irrational and upsetting to you without possibly sparking drama in real life. And as you continue to write more, you'll understand more about yourself, like why you might react negatively to something or, on happier days, why you are attracted to something.

Planning Your Day

Sometimes, we'll go through the entire day and feel like we've done absolutely nothing. Either we'll forget to do certain things or can't find the time for them. After we started writing out our activities, we became much more productive. As we got better at it, we've been able to adequately estimate the appropriate time to complete a task, which means other errands we have to do for the day aren't overshadowed.

Yoga

Working out, in general, is something we highly recommend to implement into your day. If you can't do it every day, try doing it at least two to three times and work your way up. One of our favorite forms of exercise has to be yoga. While it'll keep your body active, it'll also help your mind relax and feel clearer.

Just Taking Time for Yourself

Sometimes, we'll sacrifice our usual lazy day behavior for a more productive lifestyle. When you're in school or work full-time, removing things that bring enjoyment will quickly lead to burnout. So, no matter what you like, whether it's playing a video game or reading a book, try to make time for it in your life. Don't underestimate the power of taking a day off to treat yourself.
