Facial Lounge Treated Me to a Day at the Spa

As a beauty editor, I get tons of perks when it comes to testing out new products and experiences.

In that sense, I consider myself to be very lucky. However, sometimes the products I'm sent or locations I go to are just underwhelming. I like to be honest with our readers, and I'd never tell you to buy or try out something I didn't 100% love or believe in.

fSo, when Facial Lounge asked if I'd be interested in a full day of pampering, it was a no-brainer—yes! I was able to choose from a list of services, and I can say without a doubt it was a day for the books. I'm just waiting until the day I can go back—is once a week too much? Keep reading to learn all about my experience at Facial Lounge—psst, you're going to want to book an appointment asap!

The Location

Facial Lounge has locations in Beverly Hills, California and Corona Del Mar, California. I went to the CDM location—for those unfamiliar with the area, it's a small beach town in the city of Newport Beach—aka, it's amazing.

Upon walking into their office, I was delighted by soothing sounds, smells of luxurious oils and a friendly group of staff. After checking in, I was sent to their waiting room, which was fully equipped with plenty of seating, coffee and tea, greenery and of course—a fab photo opp. I was then greeted by Irani Makimoto-Domino, founder of IMD Health and Wellness, and she took me to a private room for my tailored massage.

Signature Lymphatic Drainage Treatment

When I typically think of a massage, I picture myself on a bed surrounded by fluffy blankets and lots of oils. This was not the case for the Signature Lymphatic Drainage Treatment—but hear me out. To my surprise, I was covered in magnesium, wrapped up in some sort of plastic covering and sent to the sauna—which was a whopping 147 degrees!

The magnesium enabled my body to rid itself of toxins, and when I say I sweat it all out, I'm convinced I got rid of at least two pounds of liquid. I know, gross!

Once my time in the sauna was up, I was placed on the massage table. Here, Irani gave me a lymphatic drainage massage, and OMG it was intense. She went to town on all the areas of my body that had cellulite or extra fat. She expertly used her hands to drain my body, and instantly, my skin looked smoother and I felt healthier.

I don't know how to even begin to describe how incredible this experience was. I think everyone should try it out at least once. When I was at home later that day, I passed out hard—for literally three hours. To my surprise, that's actually a pretty common side effect from lymphatic draining.

Lymphatic Drainage Facial

After my body treatment, I was excited to get a facial with Amber Rose Johnson, founder of Facial Lounge. She's possibly one of the sweetest human beings I've ever had the pleasure of meeting, so if you find yourself in CDM anytime soon, definitely request a facial from her.

She started by steaming my face, which helps to open up the pores and allow for better extraction of blackheads and whiteheads. I didn't really have anything to extract at the time, but the pores around my nose were super dry, which is something I've been trying to remedy for the last few months.

Next, she covered my face in the Papaya Enzyme Masque ($76), which is packed with good-for-you ingredients like papaya, pineapple and safflower. The result was super hydrated skin that left me looking glowing and dewy. She also used Cyro Globes ($65) to drain my lymphatic system. She gave me some to take home with me and I've been using them non-stop.

Microdermabrasion was next on the list, and I was definitely most excited for this part of the massage. Essentially, this procedure removes the top layer of dead skin on your face, leaving you with very smooth, baby-like skin. This is something I want to do every month. In fact, Amber suggests getting it done once a month after you've had your period. Why? Because your skin regenerates!

Bottom Line

I can say without a doubt that this was the best spa experience I've ever had. The location was pristine, the staff was friendly and the treatments were out of this world. If you're interested in lymphatic drainage, I recommend looking into it. It depuffs, debloats, smooths and makes your skin look healthy. I'll definitely be coming back to Facial Lounge.
