The Hottest Horror Movies Arriving in 2025

It might be January, but we're already missing Halloween. Thanks to scary movies, the spooky season never has to end, and this year might be one of the best in the genre.

2025 will see fresh takes on classic stories like Frankenstein, while also reviving fan-favorite franchises, such as 28 Days Later and M3GAN. Along the way, you'll also get fresh new adaptations from your favorite authors. There's really something for everyone.

The Monkey — Feb. 21

You know you'll be scared when it's a Stephen King adaptation—The ShiningIt and next, The Monkey. In this upcoming film, twins Hal and Bill (played by Theo James) find a mysterious vintage toy monkey in their father's attic. Shortly after their discovery, the siblings witness multiple deaths. Desperate to stop the disaster, they dispose of the toy and part ways. But when the deaths happen again, years later, they must work together to solve the mystery.

Death of a Unicorn — March 28

Between Screamand now, Death of a Unicorn, Jenna Ortega is quickly establishing herself as Gen Z's leading scream queen.

While on a drive, Jenna's character, Ridley, and her father, played by Paul Rudd, crash into a unicorn. Unbeknownst to them, the unicorn has supernatural powers that the boss of Ridley's father hopes to exploit. Soon, they'll find out the consequences of their experimentation.

 

28 Years Later — June 20

If you are a '00s horror film fanatic, you're probably quite familiar with 28 Days Later and its sequel, 28 Weeks Later. More than two decades after its original release, 28 Years Later is here.

A group of scientists have relocated to a secluded island to survive the deadly virus of the franchise. But after one person in the group venture back to the mainland, truth comes out about the dangers of society's remains.

 

M3GAN 2.0 — June 27

Anyone who isn't into pure horror will appreciate M3GAN. Rather than relying on jumpscares and gore, this movie used dark comedy and mystery to drive its storyline. We're excited to see the dancing robot doll return in M3GAN 2.0.

There aren't many details about the storyline yet. But Allison Williams (Gemma), Violet McGraw (Cady) and Jenna Davis (M3GAN) will reprise their roles. Guess we'll have to wait until June 27 to see what's in store.

 

Saw XI — Sept. 26

Saw is basically the Fast and Furious of horror—endless movies, outrageous plots—and we love it every time.

The newest addition is Saw XI, arriving in September. Like M3GAN, there hasn't been much news about what the film will be about, but we're certain it will be equally as entertaining as the last 10 efforts.

The Black Phone 2 — Oct. 17

At this point, it looks like 2025 is going to be the year of horror sequels.

Ethan Hawke returns as The Grabber in The Black Phone 2 alongside Mason Thames, Madeleine McGraw and Jeremy Davies. It's months away, but the October release sounds like it'll be perfect for Halloween.

 

Frankenstein — TBA

Mary Shelley's Frankenstein is one of those stories that never gets old. We all know it—Dr. Victor Frankenstein constructs a monster that comes to life and wreaks havoc. But with a star-studded cast including Oscar Isaac (Dr. Frankenstein), Jacob Elordi (Frankenstein's monster) and Mia Goth, this Netflix exclusive might be the most iconic rendition yet.
