6 Innovative Lip Oils to Hydrate Your Lips All Day Long
If I had to choose between lip oil and lip gloss, I'd pick the oil every time.
Yes, lip glosses are great—and they're amazing when you want a bolder color, like bright red or deep purple. But they don't always leave your lips feeling hydrated after hours of wear. Lip oils, on the other hand, will give you that same gloss but also work to nourish your skin, and there are even some brands that make more opaque oils, such as Rare Beauty.
Since I'm a lip oil lover through and through, I've tried many different brands. Here are six one-of-a-kind oils of you should try, from pigmented ones to lip-plumping ones.
Morphe 2 Glassified Lip Oil: $9
Morphe 2's Glassified Lip Oil was the product that got me into lip oils. When you apply, it feels like oil or—like the product name says—glass. It's super smooth, but it doesn't migrate off your lips, and it gives you that dreamy, Pinterest-worthy smooth and glossy lip you've always tried to achieve.

Juvia's Place Magic Lip Oil: $10
Most lip oils I've found have been warm-toned pinks, and as someone who prefers a cool-toned lip, I gravitate towards unconventionally colored oils. For example, I love the Blueberry and Honeydew swatches because, even though they're subtle, they really shift the color of my lips to match my cool-leaning undertone. It's also one of the most hydrating lip oils I've ever used, which is always a plus.
r.e.m. beauty essential drip lip oil: $16
Remember those cool-toned lip oils I mentioned? Well, if I had the chance to choose every time, I'd go for a purple-toned oil, specifically this one from r.e.m. beauty.
This lavender shade is so flattering for cool tones, and I think it's underrated because most people believe purple shades will look too bold. However, it can appear like a more elevated version of pink, giving you a more refreshed and refined appearance.
Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Tinted Lip Oil: $20
If you want a lip oil with pigment, Rare Beauty's Soft Pinch Tinted Lip Oil is the way to go. When you wear these, it will look like you're wearing lip gloss. But Rare Beauty's lip oil has jojoba seed oil and sunflower seed oil to hydrate your lips more than the average gloss. And somehow, it's not sticky!

Kosas Wet Lip Oil Treatment Gloss: $22
Much like the Rare Beauty lip oil, Kosas Wet Lip Oil will look more like a lip gloss than an oil. Kosas has the most flattering shades for anyone looking for a neutral tone. This product also is one of the only ones with a lip-plumping effect—it actually works and won't make your lips feel like they're on fire.
Dior Addict Lip Glow Oil: $40
No conversation about lip oils would be complete without the product that started the hype for it: the Dior Addict Lip Glow Oil. When this first became popular, it was nearly impossible to find, but it was well worth the wait once I finally had it in my collection. It's the most hydrating lip oil I own, and it lasts all day. Even when it's mostly absorbed, it gives your lips the most beautiful, almost natural-looking sheen.
