9 Tips to Set the Mood for an At-Home Spa Day

Feeling a little stir-crazy lately? You may need to take a breather, setting a day aside for self-care.

When you're feeling stressed, taking some time off may feel counter-intuitive, but a little pampering can go a long way. Not sure where to start? Keep reading for our nine tips to set the mood for an at-home spa day:

1. Find the Perfect Playlist

When it comes to creating an environment that projects a feeling of graceful ambiance, it's all about finding a killer playlist. Opt for instrumental songs so that you can really focus on what matters—you!

2. Light a Bunch of Candles

We love using natural lights and candles to set the mood for an at-home spa night. The soft lighting will give your pamper sesh a romantic vibe and bring you to an extreme level of relaxation. Make sure to place candles everywhere!

3. Turn on Your Humidifier

Grab your fave essential oils, add them to your humidifier and turn that bad boy on. Not only will this give your space a spa-like smell, but it's good for you, too. The added moisture to the air will do wonders for your skin.

4. Run a Bubble Bath

We don't know about you, but when we think of relaxing, a bubble bath is the first thing that comes to mind. Grab your go-to bath oils, salts and soaps to create your dream bubble bath. The more bubbles, the merrier.

5. Do a Deep-Conditioning Hair Mask

While you're in the bath, do a deep-conditioning hair mask. Most hair masks only need to be left on for about 20 minutes, which is the perfect amount of time to spend in the bubble bath, anyway.

6. Exfoliate Your Whole Body

After your bubble bath when you've rinsed the hair mask off, apply an exfoliant to your whole body. Make sure to scrub anywhere you can reach, and let it sit on your skin for two to three minutes before rinsing off. We recommend using THIS recipe.

7. Apply a Face Mask

We're willing to bet you have a few face masks laying around, waiting to be used. Whether you go for a mud mask, sheet mask, peel-off or something else, your spa day won't be complete without it.

8. Paint Your Nails

While your face mask is doing its duty, give yourself a full-blown pedicure. Since your feet were soaking in the bath for so long, it's the perfect time to do it. After buffing, cutting and shaping, pick out the perfect color and paint your toes.

9. Moisturize

The perfect ending to your at-home spa night includes a moisturizer. Go for your thickest, creamiest facial moisturizer and apply it. Then, use your favorite body lotion and put it on all over!
