All the Best Foods and Drinks We Tried in April 2022
Here at Sweety High, we're trying new treats, beverages and snacks all month long, so you don't have to.
If you're like us and are exposed to ads for new foods and drinks all month long, you might be tempted to taste it all—but don't necessarily have the budget to do so. That's what we're here for. We've sampled all kinds of goodies to share the ones that actually deserve a buy, and here are all of our faves from the month of April.
All Phenoms
All Phenoms isn't just any old sparkling water. All three adaptogen-packed flavors are made to be as functional as they are tasty, with a caffeine-infused citrus ginger Motivate flavor, an immunity-boosting blueberry mint Superboost flavor and a wellness-focused mango pineapple daily flavor. At just 15 to 20 calories per 12 oz. can, these sparkling waters taste like your favorite energy drinks (even though only one actually contains caffeine) and they'll leave you feeling like a million bucks with all of the vitamins, minerals, adaptogens and nootropics inside every can.

Pescavore
If you love jerky but are trying to eat less meat, Pescavore is a fish alternative with your name written all over it. The 1.5 oz. servings in their tuna jerky strips are big, meaty and satisfying, plus they're easy to eat whether you're out and about or just in a hurry, packing 14 grams of protein into every pack. They also come in Caribbean Jerk, Smokey Poké and Island Teriyaki flavors, so you can try them all and choose your favorite savory bite.

Sweet Diane's
While some granolas can be bland or unsatisfying, Sweet Diane's offerings always taste fresh and delicious, with enough sweetness to make them super craveable, whether you sprinkle it over yogurt or ice cream or eat it in handfuls right out of the bag. The Original flavor, full of oats, pumpkin seeds, pecans, sunflower seeds and coconut chips, is our favorite due to its perfect balance of sweetness and saltiness, but the Blueberry Almond and Orange Cranberry varieties are delicious, too.

No Cow
Looking for the perfect plant-based protein bar to get you through your workouts? Then make sure you try No Cow's new Dipped bars. They're gluten-free, soy-free and vegan, with Chocolate Sea Salt, Chocolate Salted Caramel, Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup, Chocolate Mint Cookie, Chocolate Covered Almond and Chocolate Sprinkled Donut flavors to satisfy any sweet tooth—and they're all dipped in a layer of rich dark chocolate while containing 20 grams of protein each.

Bell's Cookie Co.
If you're looking to eat the moistest, most flavorful cookies out there, without having to visit the local bakery or making them from scratch yourself, Bell's Cookie Co. has you covered. Not only do they offer some unusual varieties of cookies (including the odd but delicious Colombian Corn cookie), but they all hit the spot and have a fresh-out-of-the-oven chewy texture that can't be beat.

FOMO Baking Co.
For anyone who loves delicious cookies but deals with food allergies or sensitivities, there's FOMO Baking Co. Their cookies are completely free of gluten, dairy, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts and soy, while somehow managing to still taste absolutely delicious. This brand nails all of the classics—brownie, chocolate chip, sugar, snickerdoodle, oatmeal raisin and oatmeal chocolate chip—which features great texture and flavor, and none of the stuff you don't want to put in your body, all in snackable, bite-sized pieces.

Sunwink
Sunwink makes it so easy to add some delicious plant-powered botanicals to your everyday experience. They utilize plant medicine and superfoods to make products that taste great and share all kinds of benefits, with both sparkling tonics and superfood powders for calming and destressing, digestion, immunity, clarity and more. Plus, 2% of sales of every product go toward different world-changing non-profits, so supporting Sunwink supports the Earth as a whole.

UNiTE
Bored of the classic protein bar flavors? UNiTE is shaking things up with varieties inspired by unusual, worldly flavors. Their gluten-free protein bars are all under 200 calories while including 10 grams of protein each, and they come in Churro, Mexican Hot Chocolate and PB&J flavors with a chewy, easy-to-eat texture that will keep you coming back to them until you've eaten the whole box. We especially love the PB&J for its perfect blend of peanut butter goodness and sweet, fruity dates.

Nemi Snacks
Now here's a new snack brand that should be on everyone's radars. Nemi makes delicious Mexican-inspired snacks using real ingredients including organic cactus, amaranth, chia and flax. The result is a ridiculously satisfying crunchy stick with a rolled tortilla chip-like crunch. Even better, they come in deliciously bold flavors, including Mexican Lime, Smoky Chipotle and Chile Turmeric—plus the shockingly good Churro Cinnamon, flavored with ground dates rather than sugar for a sweet crunch.

Minor Figures
We've tried a lot of plant-based milks in our time, and in our opinion, oat milk is the best addition to any kind of latte. Minor Figures specializes in 100% vegan oat milk as well as specialty brews, and this month, we've been obsessed with their canned classic coffee Latte as well as their Matcha Latte. Both are super creamy with deliciously complex flavors and no added sugar—just the natural sweetness of the oat milk itself—making for a supremely sippable morning boost.
(via Minor Figures)
Oat Haus
It's kind of miraculous just how versatile oats are. Oat Haus uses them to make decadent granola butters that taste just like cookie butter, but with vegan recipes free of all nuts, soy, gluten and dairy. Their Cookie Dough and Strawberry Shortcake flavors are just like eating spreadable versions of your favorite desserts, but the real star of the show is their brand new Birthday Cake flavor—complete with sprinkles. Whether you spread it over bread, mix it into a smoothie or drizzle it over fruit, it's an absolutely delicious indulgence you'll come back to again and again.

Misaky
Haven't ever seen anything quite like Misaky? Us either—but these vegan, gluten-free natural sweets shaped like gems and crystals make for quite the treat. They're actually made from seaweed, yet boast incredible Japanese flavors, whether you're enjoying one of their fruity and floral varieties, or biting into their earthy matcha "jade" crystal. They have a satisfying sugary crunch on the outside, and a soft jelly feel in the center, turning each nibble into an experience. We love the "Red Beryl" Cranberry Hibiscus flavor best, but they're all a real treat.

Sunscoop Ice Cream
Vegan ice creams don't always hit the spot, but Sunscoop gets it precisely right with their plant-based, allergen-friendly desserts made from organic coconut cream. We've tried the Wild Blueberry Crumble, Mmmint Chip!, Supernatural Strawberry and Cold Brew Swirl flavors, and while you can definitely taste the coconut, that actually works in favor of each of these flavors, which are scrumptious and scoop with exactly the texture you'd expect from classic ice creams.
(via Sunscoop)
Sanzo
Sanzo is the world's first Asian-inspired sparkling water, using real fruit and absolutely no added sugar to create refreshingly tart, fruity beverages you can feel good about sipping. They come in Lychee, Mango and a new Yuzu with Ginger flavor, but our favorite has to be the Calamansi (or Philippine lime) flavor, which feels like summertime in a can. If you're bored with traditional seltzer flavors, these are about to change everything for you.
(via Sanzo)
ShineWater
Here at Sweety High, we're all about functional beverages, and ShineWater isn't just a surprisingly low-calorie zero-sugar drink that basically tastes like candy, but it also includes electrolytes, antioxidants, magnesium, zinc, potassium, calcium and vitamin D. Since almost half of the U.S. isn't getting sufficient daily vitamin D, and it plays an essential role in immunity, mental health and more, it's an awesome (and tasty) solution to make sure you get what you need. Plus, it now comes in convenient pouches perfect for travel and lunch boxes.

Pairing Salts
Pairing Salts is a unique brand that's all about unique and complementary flavor pairings. We tried the Hatch Chile & Tamarind chips, with a fantastic smokey, chili flavor with just the right amount of sweetness (and a bold dose of salt) that makes them hard to put down. The back of the bag also gives some suggestions for pairings with adult drinks, but we wouldn't mind if they also recommended some sodas that would go perfectly with them.

Tidbits
Meringues are the ultimate light, crunchy and sweet dessert, and Tidbits makes them so easy to eat with their mini meringues. They're available in nine incredible flavors, and there are diabetic and keto lines for dessert-lovers with unique dietary needs. Every piece contains fewer than two calories, so you can snack to your heart's content without counting. Right now, we're most obsessed with the cappuccino flavor, but you really can't go wrong with any of them—especially since a whole bag contains 60 calories or fewer!
(via Tidbits)
Slate
Slate's ultra-filtered milks are part chocolate milk, part protein drink, and all delicious. These canned drinks are lactose-free (perfect for anyone with a sensitive tummy) and taste like your favorite chocolate milk, but contain great ingredients and pack a whopping 20 grams of protein in each serving. The Mocha Latte flavor even includes 175 mg of caffeine, doubling as an energy drink.

Dalci
Pre-packaged brownies aren't known for being moist, delicious and nutrient-rich, but Dalci is unlike any other brownie we've encountered. These gut-healthy brownies and blondies are gluten-free with no refined sugars and include avocado oil, coconut sugar and almond flour so that make you feel as good as they taste. They come in Apple Spice, Dark Chocolate, Lemon Coconut and Almond Butter Dark Chocolate flavors, and you can microwave them for 10 seconds to get that fresh-out-of-the-oven experience.

Johnson's Popcorn
It takes a lot to impress us when it comes to popcorn, but Johnson's Popcorn does it right. Their Salty-n-Sandy flavor combines classic caramel corn and ultra-cheesy popcorn in the same bucket, which sounds weird, but is actually perfect. These sweet and savory flavors complement each other like a dream, making it all too easy to keep snacking with bite after alternating bite. It's a good thing, then, that their popcorn is available in massive buckets up to 3.5 gallons!

Boba Bam
Bubble tea is one of our favorite pleasures in life, but going out to get it all of the time can be an expensive hassle—and making it yourself at home is a ton of work. But that's not so with Boba Bam. Just microwave their frozen packets for a minute, add milk and ice, and stir for a delicious brown sugar boba in no time! The mixture itself is also vegan, so you can use your favorite plant milks to create a plant-based boba at home.

MALK
Speaking of plant-based milks, while there are tons of options out there, MALK has to be the very best we've tried. They're the purest plant milks we've seen, with just water, almonds or oats and Himalayan pink salt as ingredients, plus vanilla extract in the vanilla flavors, and cocoa and vanilla in their Chocolate Oat MALK. That means there's no dairy, no gums, no fillers, no oils, no gluten and no added sugars. Whether you add them to cereal, coffee or teas, they taste great while being the real deal.
(via MALK)
BEHAVE
If you can't have enough gummy candies, but don't love that they're packed with sugar, BEHAVE is here to save the day. They're available in Sweet Bears and Sour Bears, coming in irresistible passionfruit, raspberry and lychee flavors, as well as pineapple Sour Stars, satisfying your sweet tooth without all of the junk. At a single gram of sugar and 60 calories per serving, they somehow manage to hold their own against the classics.
(via BEHAVE)
nib mor
Dark chocolate fans are about to fall head over heels with nib mor. The brand makes "snacking chocolate" bites and bars in Original Mint, Peppermint, Sea Salt, Extra Dark, Blueberry and Tart Cherry flavors, bringing out the very best of its organic ingredients in every bite. We especially like the flavors embedded with crunchy cacao nibs—and the fact that they also offer organic hot cocoa mixes is the cherry on top.

Country Archer Provisions
We love beef jerky, but with lots of brands packed with all kinds of not-so-great ingredients, it can be hard to find jerky that's good for you and tastes great. We've found it in Country Archer Provisions—especially when it comes to their zero sugar varieties of jerky. They're tender and meaty, and packed with flavor—no sugar required.

Talia di Napoli
There are thousands of frozen pizza options available out there, so what makes Talia di Napoli special? Every single pizza is actually hand-made in Naples, Italy—so you know they're the real deal. The pizzas only need 10 minutes in the oven (though we liked putting them in a little longer to get them extra crisp), and the results were thin, flavorful pizzas with exquisite crusts that are crunchy in parts, and delightfully fluffy in others. We tried the Margherita, Artichoke and truffle Tartufina pizza, and every last one was delicious. They're a little on the pricey side—but believe us when we say they're worth the expense.

HighKey
HighKey is a brand that specializes in low-sugar, gluten-free snacks that taste so good you'll forget you're eating healthy, and they hit it out of the park every time. Their newest line of chocolates is a great substitute for beloved staples, from their crunchy, candy-coated Chocolate Pearls to Caramel-Filled Bars and Caramel Nut Chocolaty Stix. We also love their classic Mini Cookies, sure to satisfy your chocolate chip cookie craving.

Brave Good Kind
Why is it that beef jerky has to be the standard? After biting into Brave Good Kind's bafflingly delicious chicken jerky, we're thinking a big shift is about to take place in the meaty snack world. Made with antibiotic-free chicken and seasoned with flavorful spices, they're juicy, soft and super snackable. Even the Original flavor is bursting with flavor—and the Teriyaki and Hot Honey varieties are even more fun. Plus, the lessened impact on the environment, compared to beef jerky, is a huge bonus.

Louisville Vegan Jerky Co.
And if you're a jerky fan who's working to cut out meats entirely, Louisville Vegan Jerky Co. has your name written all over them. Their soy-based jerky is nice and tender, with just the right amount of bite, and each piece is packed with flavor. They come in Smoky Carolina BBQ, Smoked Black Pepper, Maple Bacon, Buffalo Dill and Perfect Pepperoni flavors, but our favorite has to be the Buffalo Dill, with its beautifully balanced vinegar, spice and that signature, pickly flavor of dill.

Chargel
Chargel is designed for athletes as a gel drink that's packed with energy from the carbs and vitamins an active body needs, without any caffeine. The gel is super hydrating and comes in delicious Green Apple, White Grape and Strawberry flavors, making it so easy to power up before you get active. It really lies somewhere between a beverage and a snack and is a great way to get something good in your belly when you know you have a big day ahead of you.
(via Chargel)
Malibu Mylk
Malibu Mylk specializes in their innovative flax milks, and we're big fans of their new canned Flax + Oat Mylk Coffee and Matcha drinks. With absolutely no added sugar, these drinks aren't sweet—just smooth and ridiculously creamy—allowing the natural flavors of the matcha and the coffee to shine. If you can't get enough of sugary Starbucks drinks, these may not be for you, but they just might be tasty enough to turn you on to something new.

Beanitos
Love tortilla chips, but not the fact that they don't have a lot to offer in nutrition? You should definitely try Beanitos, a brand that makes their unique tortilla chips using white, black and pinto beans to pack iron, calcium and potassium, as well as protein and fiber, into every bite. They come in Sea Salt, Hint of Lime, Nacho Nation, Chipotle BBQ and Sweet Chili and Sour Cream flavors, so there's something for everyone. And while they may have a hint of a beany aftertaste, these chips are so wholesome and tasty that you'll love them even more than the classics.
(via Beanitos)
The Good Bean
Roasted chickpea snacks might not sound that exciting, but believe us when we tell you that they're delicious through and through. We can't get enough of the delicate, nutty crunch of these snacks (if you've had wasabi peas, the texture will be familiar), and they taste amazing whether you're enjoying the Sea Salt variety or their more punchy Chili Lime, Sweet Sriracha and Classic Hummus flavors. Even better, they have chocolate-covered chickpeas. Again, that sounds pretty weird, but their candy coating makes them like the perfect fusion between the peanut and crispy versions of M&M's, and we went through those bags fast.
(via The Good Bean)
Halo Top
Everyone knows Halo Top and their light, low-calorie ice creams, and while we're longtime fans, we've definitely heard complaints that the brand's offerings aren't as creamy as people would like. Halo Top heard that, too, so they're now working on updating their dairy ice creams with an even richer, creamier texture. We've tried their first flavor to incorporate this recipe, the Chocolate Cake Batter, and it was clear right out of the freezer how much of a difference it made. It now scoops softly, like classic ice cream, and has a rich, chocolatey flavor, packed with sprinkles for even more fun.
