All the Best Foods and Drinks We Tried in January 2024

A new year means new opportunities to try new things—and for us, that means tasting as much amazing new food as we can get our hands on.

Clearly, January 2024 was a month for innovation because all of our favorite brands were releasing tantalizing new flavors and products while others wowed us for the very first time. These brands gave us the chance to taste-test all kinds of desserts, drinks, snacks and more to share our favorites, so continue scrolling to discover the foods our editors loved best in January of 2024.

Truff

If you love the pungent umami flavor of truffles, chances are that you already love TRUFF Hot Sauce, but we think the newest addition to the lineup is their tastiest yet. The brand now offers a Jalapeño Lime Hot Sauce, with its own take on classic green hot sauce that's delicious on everything from tacos and fries to chicken. It's spicy without being overwhelming, with the bright and well-balanced acidity of lime and, of course, unforgettable black winter truffle flavor in every drop.

Wilde Chips

We're always happy to try a new flavor from WILDE Protein Chips, and the new Spicy Queso knocks it out of the park. Their chips are made with real chicken breast, egg whites and bone broth to create chips with all of the saltiness and crunch of classic potato chip, but with a more meaty taste and substantial feel—and they're even better with a slightly cheesy and spicy seasoning. Plus, with 10 grams of protein per serving, we can snack on these knowing they're powering our bodies.

Rotten

As candy lovers, we're always eager to see how new brands can improve on the classics, and Rotten is an innovative snack company putting their own low-sugar twist on gummy worms. They come in both Original and Sour options with mango, raspberry, strawberry and watermelon flavors, and since they're sweetened with allulose, they have 60% less sugar than classic gummy worms, with zero sugar alcohols, artificial sweeteners or artificial flavors. The packaging is also made with 100% compostable materials and sustainable paper with awesome retro branding, hearkening back to gross-out aesthetics of the '90s that we simply don't see elsewhere nowadays.

brekki

We can't be the only ones who love the idea of overnight oats but often aren't organized enough to actually remember to prep our oats overnight. That's what makes brekki and their ready-to-eat, plant-based oats such a life-saver. They're everything you'd want from homemade oats, blending oats with ancient grains, almonds and chia seeds for a great crunchy consistency and nutrients while also being an effortless way to start off each day with a well-balanced meal. They're also gluten-free, and with eight scrumptious flavors, including The Original, Apples & Cinnamon, Bananas & Maple Brown Sugar and even Cold Brew Coffee, you never have to feel like you're eating the exact same thing day after day.

Krack'd Snacks

You probably don't think of chocolate bars when you're hunting for a "guilt-free" snack, but Krack'd Snacks is about to make you rethink the way you satisfy your sweet tooth. The brand features two offerings that are like candy bars but in a keto and vegan formula and with less than one gram of sugar per bar. The Peanut Butter Caramel Crunch is like a better-for-you Butterfinger, with a crispy, buttery nut interior enveloped in rich dark chocolate, while the Aloha Caramel bar is packed with California almonds and coconut caramel to emulate a classic Snickers.

34 Degrees

As longtime fans of 34 Degrees and their crispy crackers, we're happy to try anything new they add to the roster, and their most recent product, Mates, fully has our hearts. These light yet bold and cheesy puffed crisps are like your favorite cheesy cracker, but better for you thanks to their gluten-free, protein-packed recipe. Real cheese is the main ingredient in all three flavors—Original, Rosemary & Garlic and Caramelized Onion—and they're so crunchy and poppable that once you start snacking, it's hard to put the bag down.

Stoked Beekeeping Co.

Stoked Beekeeping Co. is a honey brand based in Alaska that imports its pure Manuka honey from New Zealand—the only place in the world where rare Manuka trees grow. According to studies from the National Library of Medicine, Manuka honey can aid in the treatment of everything from eczema and IBS to the flu and more, and perhaps best of all, it also tastes good, with a slightly bitter, almost medicinal flavor that makes us feel like it's really doing its job. And, if their Manuka honey is a little rich for your taste, they also have delicious Alaskan Fireweed Honey and Radical Wildflower Honey, with more traditional sweet flavors for baking, sweetening and more.

Hero Bread

Hero Bread is one of the few brands that get low-carb bread very right—probably because they're constantly trying to outdo themselves. They've really done it this time with their Hero Cheddar Biscuit, reminiscent of our favorite chain restaurant cheesy biscuits, minus all the junk. They're perfectly fluffy and soft after being warmed up, making a great accompaniment to your favorite meal or soup with just one net carb and 18 grams of fiber packed into every one.

BrightFarms

Not all salad kits are created equal, but BrightFarms and their indoor-grown produce never misses—and the newest additions to their Crunch Kit line are extra delicious. The Mediterranean salad combines feta cheese, roasted lentils and herbed flatbread bites with a feta vinaigrette for a bright and refreshing meal or side, while the Southwest Chipotle is rich with bold flavor thanks to roasted corn, tortilla strips, cotija cheese and chipotle ranch dressing. Even better, the clingy plastic lids reseal, so it's effortless to remove the packs containing the crunchy add-ins, cheese and dressing, pour them in, seal and then shake to combine to perfection.

Rummo

We love pasta, so of course, we instantly fell in love with Rummo, a traditional Italian pasta brand that's been around for nearly 180 years. Their high-quality, bronze-cut pasta is made using the same traditional processes they've used for years, developed to give each pasta shape a rougher texture that makes them better for picking up—and holding on to—all of our favorite tasty sauces. We're the biggest fans of the classic Farfalle, Riccioli and Fusilli shapes. Recently, they've even added gluten-free options to the lineup, and while we'll always prefer traditional pasta, the gluten-free taste and texture are surprisingly spot-on.

Tony's Chocolonely is a one-of-a-kind chocolate brand dedicated to transparency and fighting exploitation in the cocoa industry, and their newest offering, Lil' Bits, is an instant favorite. Each bite consists of a ball of crunchy or chewy filling coated in luxurious and sustainably sourced chocolate. We got to sample the delicious Milk Chocolate Caramel Sea Salt & Cookie Mix, consisting of sweet cookies and caramel coated in milk chocolate, and hope to also try the Triple Chocolate Mix and Milk Chocolate S'mores Mix flavors very soon.

Struesli

Struesli is a brand dedicated to making tasty organic, fully gluten-free granola, and their Savory + Seed flavor is a delicious granola jam-packed with nutrients and healthy ingredients to help you start your morning off right.
