The World Needs to Stop Sleeping on These Underrated Artists
There are artists who make it big and then there are artists who don't.
Then there are all those special underrated gems that have the potential to be the biggest acts in the world, yet somehow slip through the cracks because the world wouldn't know good music if it hit them square in the face. That's why I'm here.
I've rounded up 13 undervalued artists you need to familiarize yourself with immediately, because they deserve more than anyone to be the top performers in the industry.
Keep scrolling to find out who they are!????
Little Mix
Little Mix is hands down the greatest girl group of all time. Don't @ me. Actually, go ahead and do it. I know it's the truth. From their outstanding vocals to their precise dance moves, these girls own the stage every time they perform.
The Maine
Where do I even start with these fellas? I adore The Maine to no end and will be singing their praises till the day I die. They've grown so much as artists and humans in the 10 years they've been a band, and watching their journey has been unreal. With each album, they just prove to be better and better. I've turned plenty of my friends into fans of these guys, so give them a listen. They will not disappoint.
PVRIS
PVRIS is a rare band who found their sound and style early on and have continued to stick with it while still evolving. They're a bit darker than most bands, but they have no problem telling it like it is. For any of you going through trying times, you will surely find solace in their songs.
Carly Rae Jepsen
I know, I know, "Call Me Maybe" is one of the greatest pop masterpieces to date. But what Carly Rae Jepsen is doing now will honestly save pop music, yet no one seems to want to listen. It's thoroughly upsetting because her latest releases are pop magic. Please help her rise to the level of Taylor Swift and Katy Perry, she deserves it.
Charli XCX
Charli XCX is one of the best (if not, the best) writers in the game. She's written hits for the likes of Selena Gomez, Britney Spears and Rihanna, and some even better tunes for herself. Charli knows what's catchy and isn't afraid to take risks, which needs to be appreciated more.
Melanie Martinez
Melanie Martinez is an artist all her own. There really isn't anyone else out there like her and she's embraced her individuality as an artist to the fullest extent. One of the greatest storytellers, her lyrics encompass the trials and tribulations we all experience at some point in our life.
Allie X
For those of you who love Troye Sivan, Allie X is your girl. There is so much heart and soul in her music, and you can really hear that through her vocals. A voice so sweet and powerful, listening to her lay it all out there will bring you to tears.
Marina and the Diamonds
Marina Diamandis has the voice of an angel. It's actually insane and seeing her perform live is a spiritual experience. She's been getting compared to Lana Del Rey since they both hit the scene, but Marina hasn't risen to the ranks quite like Lana has. It's a crying shame.
MisterWives
MisterWives is a force to be reckoned with. The indie pop band continually drops hits that are more meaningful than a lot of music on the radio nowadays. They take what they do very seriously, but they're also all about embracing their individuality and having a blast.
Ruth B.
Indie pop artist Ruth B. may be a fresh face in the music industry, but her songwriting abilities prove to be well beyond her years. Effortlessly able to express how she's feeling in a song, no other artist really compares to her in that sense.
K.Flay
Alternative artist K.Flay has been around for quite some time, but she has yet to achieve the level of admiration I believe she's more than worthy of. Her unique musical compositions aren't for the faint of heart. She's proven time and time again she's willing to update her signature sound to better suit what the world wants to hear. Just listen, you'll love her.
MUNA
MUNA is an electronic pop group chock-full of girl power. Everything they release serves a greater purpose than simply being another great song on a playlist. They're a feeling and a movement that we all need to get behind. If any one group can change the fate of humanity, it's these rad women.
Noah Cyrus
Noah Cyrus has shown the world that she is quite the talent, which isn't a surprise considering her musical family background. But I think she gets overshadowed by her older sister Miley Cyrus far too often. Noah's sound is pretty far removed from Miley's, but I think people project their opinions of Miley onto Noah. Not on my watch! Noah's her own person who has all the makings to go far in this world without the help of her sister.
